In this first film version of William Shakespeare's classic pastoral comedy, Sir Laurence Olivier stars as Orlando while Elisabeth Bergner is Rosalind, his secret admirer who disguises herself as a boy in order to stay near to him. Nearly all of the actors involved had performed the work on stage previously, adding to the stellar overall performance. A particular highlight is Olivier's magnificent delivery of the famous "All the world's a stage..." monologue.

Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as "the Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told."

This is a fun adventure movie.  Airplanes, bandits, pretty girl, comical sidekick...  The copyright owner failed to renew, and it's been pretty widely copied and republished.  This copy is a re-edit of one that I found on this site.  I removed some damaged frames, cleaned up the audio, and replaced the crummy title cards (Alpha Video) with something that is a better match (better, not great).  Eva Gabor is in her prime and very easy to watch. This is not great cinema.  The action takes...

This print has slightly improved video and much cleaner audio without any of the dialog-masking noise in the other print here at IA. It also has a smaller video file in the standard MP4 format. FROM IMDB: This film was fairly closely based on the real-life murder of New York showgirl Dorothy "Dot" King in March 1923. Before gaining fame as an action hero, Douglas Fairbanks appeared in this oddity of a film from 1916, supposedly co-written by the star himself, D.W. History esteems Danny Kaye as one of Hollywood's most popular and versatile stars of the World War II era. Kaye did it all -- he could sing, dance and chew scenery with reckless abandon. His face was a contortionist's trampoline and his voice was an instrument only one man knew how to play. Evidence of his theatrical skills is abundant, albeit sometimes difficult to find in the 21st Century. Time, however, has not been generous to Kaye's legacy. His comedy now seems so over the top that he ends...
