PANORAMA EPHEMERA (2004, 89:35 min., color and black and white) is a collage of sequences drawn from a wide variety of ephemeral (industrial, advertising, educational and amateur) films, touring the conflicted landscapes of twentieth-century America. The films' often-skewed visions construct an American history filled with horror and hope, unreeling in familiar and unexpected ways. PANORAMA EPHEMERA focuses on familiar and mythical activities and images in America (1626-1978). Many creatures...

While this films producers should be applauded for their sensible approach in teaching parents how to talk to kids about sex, the awkward reading of cue cards and embarrassing situations will produce nervous giggles among even the most jaded audiences. This film was produced by some of the pioneers of sex education whose ideas are still being challenged by school boards today. This is a copy of the 1926 magazine "The Play Pictorial" featuring the play "Aloma" A Tale of the South seas. This play was a great success in New York, and went to London where it was also successful. The play features Vivienne Osborne as Aloma and Clay Clement as Nuitane. Miss Osborne is the only member of the Broadway opening night cast to be listed in the London production, but Clay Clement was apparently a replacement in the Broadway cast according to family accounts....

How's that for a title? Lawyer Raymond Burr (seeming very much like Perry Mason) brilliantly defends Angela Lansbury, who seems certain to be found guilty of murdering her husband, who was Burr's best friend! Instead of spoiling it for you, I'll just say that a couple of surprises lie ahead for him. It's a wonder this film was allowed to become p.d. Don't miss it. Also appearing are Dick Foran, John Dehner, Lamont Johnson, and Denver Pyle. You can load the mpeg2 file into DVDAuthorGUI (a...
