Charlie Chaplins 53rd Film Released July 10 1916 The Vagabond was a silent film by Charlie Chaplin and his third film with Mutual Films. Released in 1916, it co-starred Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Leo White and Lloyd Bacon. This film echoed Chaplin's work on The Tramp, with more drama mixed in with comedy. The story begins with Charlie, playing music to raise money, and instead finds the abused girl (played by Edna) living in a gypsy camp. As in The Tramp, he works on finding a way to help...

From IMDb : "Can your heart stand the shocking facts about grave robbers from outer space?" That's the question on the lips of the narrator of this tale about flying saucers, zombies and cardboard tombstones. A pair of aliens, angered by the "stupid minds" of planet Earth, set up shop in a California cemetery. Their plan: to animate an army of the dead to march on the capitals of the world. (The fact that they have only managed to resurrect three zombies to date has not...

Mother, 1926, directed by Vsevolod Pudovkin. This is a great silent film from the early days of Russian communism. It is the story of one mothers personal revolution against the Tsar and has one of the moist rousing ending in movie history. YTou will want to rise up yourself.

He became involved in film through his wife, who was an actress in Pathé films. Georges Méliès was a French illusionist and filmmaker famous for leading many technical and narrative developments in the earliest days of cinema. (Wikipedia) A prolific innovator in the use of special effects, accidentally discovered the substitution stop trick, he was one of the first filmmakers to use multiple exposures, time-lapse photography, dissolves, and hand-painted color in his work. Because of his ability to seemingly manipulate and transform reality through cinematography,...

An early sound film adventure/melodrama in which a dirigible expedition to the South Pole is complecated by a love triangle. Surprisingly good production values and visual FX for a Tiffany production. However the audio FX are very primitive. Directed by Edward Sloman. Released in 1929. Complete print

This version was sourced from a high quality 1.3GB Windows Media file found elsewhere at IA which didn't fully derive, and so there wasn't a streaming version. This new upload has been converted to a 642MB mpeg4 (mp4) file with no loss in apparent video quality. A low-key supernatural horror that proved you don't need mega bucks or a Hollywood studio to make a highly effective genre film. Directed by Herk Harvey Released in 1962 a.k.a.
