A simulated double feature program at a second-run movie house in the 1940s. This night of murders most foul begins with coming attractions and a cartoon. Then a stripper turns detective in "Lady of Burlesque," starring Barbara Stanwyck, followed by the Robert Benchley short, "How to be a Detective." Then the baffling murder of a Chinese princess is a case for "Mr. Wong in Chinatown," starring Boris Karloff.

The 2am Theater reaches across the pond to merry old England for this simulated double feature program in a second-run movie house: The murderous entertainment begins with coming attractions and a cartoon. The first feature presentation is the classic Edgar Wallace old dark house mystery, "The Case of the Frightened Lady," followed by a Robert Benchley short, "Home Movies." Then the rising body count in a London lodging house baffles Scotland Yard in "Shadows on the...

A World War I romantic acton drama with an utterly absurd plot and dialog to match. Large cast and good production values for a Mascot film. Neither helps much. The print is in excellent condition. This print is sharper and brighter than the existing IA copies. Time is running out for Edmond O'Brien's desperate attempt to solve his own murder. A simulated double feature program at a second-run movie house. The dastardly deeds and desperate situations begin with coming attractions and a cartoon. Then Edmond O'Brien solves his own murder in the 4-star thriller, "D.O.A.," followed by a short subject, "Souvenirs of Death." This print is much sharper and cleaner than the existing IA copies. Another outstanding suspense thriller from Hitchcock's British years. If it isn't as popular as "The 39 Steps" or "The Lady Vanishes," it's probably because it's mounted on a smaller scale than those well-known classics. It also has a plot element some audiences found disturbing. Based on Joseph Conrad's novel, "The Secret Agent." Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. UK release 1936. US release 1937....

The 2am Theater crawls out from under its rock to bring you another sure-fire insomnia cure. This cinematic version of Ambien opens with coming attractions, followed by bad actors fighting a lobster silhouette in "Teenagers from Outer Space." The intermission featurette, "Going Steady?" induces your libido into a deep coma. Then if the rest of you is still awake, really bad actors and a guy in a gorilla suit put teenage girls into a glass booth, in "Teenage...

If Tom Keene is remembered today it's probably for his role as Colonel Edwards in "Plan Nine From Outer Space." However in the early '40s he starred in a series of matinee westerns, none of which you would likely find in a B-western hall of fame. It's easy to discover why by watching this one. Remade in 1946 as "Tumbleweed Trail." Written, produced and directed by Robert Tansey Released in 1941

"Song of Old Wyoming" is the first of a series of B-Westerns, starring Eddie Dean and filmed in Cinecolor by Poverty Row studio, PRC. A total of five were produced in color. The story is that Eddie Dean was upstaged in this first of the series by newcomer, Al (soon to be known as "Lash") LaRue. LaRue couldn't sing like Eddie Dean, who was the most mellifluous of cowboy singers. Dean also co-wrote two of the films three songs. Prolific B-movie producer-director,  Robert...

Roger Corman's Swamp Women has been kicking around in wretched quality for years, and I'm not sure this represents an "upgrade," but it does have improved sound and color. Also, it's presented in 16 x 9 format; closer to the original theatrical aspect ratio. For all the tedious trudging through the swamp and over-the-top dialog, it's actually a well-made little programmer, with good acting by all concerned, a decent script, and Corman's nice moving camera, a feature which always sets...

This print is much sharper and cleaner than the existing IA copies, and it's in the correct aspect ratio. Known for its highly atmospheric settings and structural similarity to "Psycho," which was purely coincidental, "City of the Dead" was poorly received at its US and UK theatrical openings. A much improved, widescreen copy of Antonio Margheriti's first Italian space opera, "Assignment  Outer Space," also known as "Spacemen." The claim made in the Wikipedia article below that this film was released on a triple bill with "First Spaceship on Venus" and "The Mysterians" is a fantasy. So what that it has nothing to do with Broadway. So what that the acting is awful and the production values nonexistent (except for Foley FX which consist of a cricket and a car horn). So what that it seems twice as long as it actually is. Because now you have a foolproof way to get rid of unwanted house guests. Just flip on this movie, and watch 'em scatter. A strong contender for the worst movie of all time. Written and directed by Phil Tucker. Released in 1955. a.k.a. "Hollywood...

Hellooooo and welcome back to everyone's favorite shocking internet drive-in! Well with summer in full swing (at least here in that wonderland of confusion - the good ol' USA), we thought it might be appropriate to chill things out a bit with some snow and surf. And what better way to chill things out than with two more classics brought to us by that film entrepreneur, W. Lee Wilder! First up, after some "serial" fun and a jiving cartoon, Billy's older brother brings us 1954's...

An adventure serial in 12 chapters that is a mind-boggling mix of new sound footage with footage from the silent serial "The Jungle Goddess." All 12 chapters are strung together in one file, which might make this the longest unintentionally hilarious movie in history. Good luck in getting through all 3 hours and 17 minutes with your reason intact! Directed by Robert F Hill. Released in 1935 (and 1922). runtime 197 minutes. complete print. Life in an itinerant theatrical troupe. A well-acted and well-produced pre-code drama which touches on infidelity and illegitimacy (by '30s standards). The final scenes might be considered an unintentional prediction of the 1944 Hartford circus tragedy. Directed by Victor Schertzinger. Released in 1933. a.k.a. "The Constant Woman". complete print.

A cold war suspense drama costarring Dennis Price and Peggy Ann Garner. This is a TV movie filmed in West Germany by a German production company, and with a mostly German supporting cast.
