Frank Henenlotter once wrote that nudie cuties were "undoubtedly the stupidest films on the face of the earth", and this movie provides ample evidence in support of that, though it is by no means the stupidest nudie cutie ever made. That's just what happens with a movie shot in three days, two of which were mostly ad-libbed. Lovable Bob...

"Radio Ranch" is a condensation of the 12 chapter, 1935 Mascot serial, "Phantom Empire," which features Gene Autry in his first screen role as a singing cowboy. The 70-minute feature version was released in 1940. Copious plot permutations were lost in this condensed version, but what it lacks in coherence, it makes up for in fast-paced wackiness. This version is of higher visual quality than other copies here at the Internet Archive and elsewhere.

The story is essentially a comedic remake of the classic  Universal Studios  horror film  The Old Dark House  (1932) which had already been remade as a comedy,  The Old Dark House (1963 film) , a year earlier. The plot also has elements of the horror-comedy  Murder, He Says  (1945).

Financed by an eccentric "angel" ( Percy Kilbride ), the completed feature is set to premiere when angry creditors confiscate...

Officially, this is the first entry in the East Side Kids franchise. Made in 1940, this Monogram programmer doesn't yet have the familiar chemistry of Leo Gorcey, Huntz Hall, Bobby Jordan and Sammy Morrison, but it's an interesting and fun entry. This is a classic b-Grade Sci-fi movie from 1953. Leonmard Maltin called it "the best of the So-Bad-it's-Good movies". Sometime shown in 3-d, always shown with a score by Elmer Bernstein, this picture is also known as "Rocket to the Moon". A group of space travellers find themselves landing on a hostile moon inhabited by beautiful women in tight black costumes and heavy eye makeup. COPYRIGHT NOTE: This film is public domain because of the failure of it's producer/copyright...
