A newspaper reporter, with a desparate need for $5,000, borrows the money from a "shady character." Years later the reporter is charged with a murder he did not commit. Spoiler alert, the truth comes out in the end, the bad guy gets what's coming to him, and the good guy has a bright future. There's a little drama along the way, but there's no treasure map. I found this on this website; with most of the opening credits missing, and too much hiss and crackle in the audio. I used a shot...

A backstage murder leads to a jury room drama in which Joe E Brown is the only holdout for acquittal. "Twelve Angry Men" it's not, but as a primative early talkie it is an interesting curiosity. The print is in reasonably good condition. Directed by Albert S Rogell (as Albert Rogell). Released in 1929. Approximately 3 minutes are missing. CAST NOTE: Joe E Brown began his show biz career at the age of ten as a circus tumbler and clown. In later years he would claim he was the only kid...

So what that it has nothing to do with Broadway. So what that the acting is awful and the production values nonexistent (except for Foley FX which consist of a cricket and a car horn). So what that it seems twice as long as it actually is. Because now you have a foolproof way to get rid of unwanted house guests. Just flip on this movie, and watch 'em scatter. When a wealthy man is murdered at a costume party, each of the guests must be considered a suspect. Naturally, one of the guests is a mystery writer, and all of the other guests have what the police call "motive." The premise wasn't as tired, back in 1934, when this was made. A group of goal-focused aliens ("Our first eight tries flopped, but we'll keep trying!") start raising the dead so they can conquer the world. How they plan to do so by using cardboard flying saucers, exploding sunbeams and a couple of miles of stock footage is anybody's guess. Features the wasp-waisted Maila Nurmi, the vast-waisted Tor Johnson, Tom Mason as "Ghoul Man with Cape Over Face" and the ever-durable Lyle Talbot. And remember: We are all interested in the future,...

Who cut off an old man's hand, and then murdered him? Inquiring minds want to know, and so does Scotland Yard. A low budget, independent British production with a large cast. The last fifteen seconds are...well, you'll have to see them for yourself. Directed by Henry Cass. UK release 1960. US release 1961. Complete print. PRODUCTION NOTE: Cast members Ray Cooney and Tony Hilton also co-wrote the screenplay.

This print is much sharper and cleaner than the existing IA copies. Another outstanding suspense thriller from Hitchcock's British years. If it isn't as popular as "The 39 Steps" or "The Lady Vanishes," it's probably because it's mounted on a smaller scale than those well-known classics. It also has a plot element some audiences found disturbing. Based on Joseph Conrad's novel, "The Secret Agent." Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. UK release 1936. US release 1937....
