Furthur is the best jam today. Serious pros. This is such a treat...

Anyway to the John point, go find yourself a "Nobody Girl" say from Boston on 03-06-2011. This cover of a Ryan Adams tune is truly wonderful, soulful, and without a doubt John's.

Let's Go Furthur!
Subject: Kadelick and Jerry
I listen to the Grateful Dead every day, I've listened to every Furthur show and seen Furthur a few times. While Mr. Kadelick obviously has a style that is like Jerry's I don't think people give him enough credit for putting his own twist on the stylings of Jerry Garcia. His style is more subdued than Jerry, fewer notes and he plays different voicings and different octaves than Jerry. The fluidity is similar and the almost "horn like" style is there for sure, along with some Jerry effects on the guitar but I think if people listen closer they will realize his has made his own sound in the style of Jerry. Of course he will play some of the same licks...he's playing the same songs and in order to make them the same song the same licks have to be in certain spots.
Anyway....just my opinion..this show is really nice and I'm super psyched for Radio City.
Subject: Thank You
In my opinion, this incarnation of Grateful Dead is outstanding. I have attended 14 Furthur shows so far, and have everyone of them on discs. Since 1980 I have attended 254 shows, recorded 200 myself, and collected and listened to 1,800. Not bragging, just offering context for my comments. I took my 12 year old son to his 9th show, and his 2nd New Year's Eve. I am proud to say I have ushered in yet another generation of enthusiastic patron.
I, too, miss Garcia, yet without Kadlecik, perhaps there are no shows to hear. If he is good enough for Weir and Lesh, he is good enough for me.
This music moves me in a genuine way, something I could not have honestly said from 1995 through 2009. There were some fine groupings in there - always loving the Phil and Friends, but this arrangement is kicking some ass.
Happy Birthday Phil, thank you and everyone who is making this possible. I am rejuvenated and joyous because of the phenomenal effort. At one time I thought we were done, destined to feast off the memories, but, dare I say it, the band sounds as good as ever.
My college roommate and I made a pact 30 years ago. If we ever heard a live Saint Stephen we were to seek out the other one and kill them on the spot, because it couldn't get any better than that. It was a joke of course between a Boston native and a Californian, however, Paul tragically passed away early last year at the tender age of 47. As fate had it, Furthur played that elusive Saint Stephen the very next night. I am sure he heard it, maybe even called it.
This band is magic, and I teach science. Astounding accomplishment - I am proud to be a part of it. Thank you all for sharing in it too.
