My cup overfloweth... this one doesn't give up a thing in comparison to the following night, or even to the gems from the previous month. GDTRFB may just melt your speakers. Sound quality is unreal, too.
Don't even hesitate. You need this show.

The fat man came to play...
The ninety-minute run by Jerry in the second set, with only a four-minute break for drums, is worth the price of admission. He plays like a man possessed. I didn't believe in spontaneous combustion until I heard this: Jerry just had to explode into a pile of smoking ash at the end of JBG.
An excellent transcription of an excellent performance. CM has done it again!
Five skulls for the recording. Five skulls for the performance.
SPECIAL NOTE: CM is the patch master. The AUD patch in TOO is almost completely transparent, one of the best you'll ever (not) hear. Way to go, Charlie!

This show is top notch from start to finish that starts with a nice minglewood, intesly beautiful sugaree(best I can recall),Row Jimmy,Passenger,LazyLightning>Supp are all excellent. And then comes the second set even tighter than the first. honestly its been a while since I remembered what I loved about Wharf Rat. Estimated>Eyes>Drums>Other is simply epic.Jerry never stops. This show never stops delivering all the way to the end of eye watering Brokedown Palace.

Definitely top 5 of 77.
This one might get overlooked I think. I gave the second set a listen after maybe a year, and was again blown away. I forgot how good this show really is. Estimated is well played, you get a 19 minute Eyes that is just wonderful, an explosive then quiet Other One into a beautiful Wharf Rat, into a powerhouse NFA. GDTRFB is excellent as well, not terribly common for 77. JBGoode cooks, and the Brokedown is a sweet sendoff. Good quality too. 5 star show for sure.

What,a Passenger and LL/Supp. on my b-day? Thank you to hell and back Jerry and Phil. But my God you should've left out the Sunrise, hahahahaha! All joking(Donna's tune)aside,a beautiful night and it's a shame I was only 7 years old at the time.It gets 5 stars w/out Donna's horrible tune.

I have played my old audience cassette of Set 1 more times than I could count over the last twenty years. For me, this show IS '77 Dead!
It is glorious to hear the band so on top of their game. The groove is supple and effortless, and the energy just crackles. Seven proud walkers on the jinglebell rainbow, indeed. It's a tough call between 6/8 and 6/9, which I've heard Phil has called their greatest performance. So what? Get both now. My all-time fave Sugaree, and a Jack-A-Roe to rival 5/17.
Major kudos to Charlie Miller for getting us a clean, almost unpatched soundboard -- and to Betty, of course, for making it possible. Long live Winterland!
One tiny beef: Tracked as it is, Disc 1 runs over 74 min. This is easily corrected by moving track 9 to Disc 2, which I suggest.

Whoa.....a DVD exists of this show? Pray tell. Are you confusing this show with the '74 Winterland shows immortilized in the GD Movie? I hope not and that there is truly some video footage out there......let us know.
As far a rating goes....I'll give it a 4 when stacking it up against other '77's (hell, for the most part, they are all 4-5's; the only beef being song selection did not vary much throughout the year). Love the smooth, grooved feel of '77's.

Best Show Ever
I've loved everything heard from this year. I wish I could go back and be at this show though. Gives me tears and chils to hear it. I just seen the dvd of this show and the meaning coming from jerry's face sends me chils of love. I wish I could have been there. But I'm only 24 years young. I missed alot of jerry. But thank you for sharing. You all help me listen to the music play

Just another in a long line of killer '77 shows, preserved forever thanks to Betty. I graduated from high school on this night and had to miss all 3 shows from this run. Thankfully, these wonderful downloads help make up for my regretable absence. All 3 nights are awesome and find the band at an absolute performing peak. I have yet to hear a bad show from this year. Download these shows!!
