Subject: In my top 3
Subject: I just wish they would get these Elephants off the stage.
Over the top jams!! Varied and well explored list.
Very well known Historic East Coast Venue.
Dropping in a theater show during an ice rink tour.
Subject: King Biscuit
Also have the 3 record bootleg that a friend bought for me in some huge record store in Buffalo. Has a cool silhouette picture of Jerry on the cover. The bright glow of his frizzy hair and the shiny inlays of wolf and the frets of the guitar neck. Had black screen printed tee shirts made. Don't mind Jerry's voice. The guy was sick. But his playing never suffered. I remember Bobby saying at the time "Jerry could play guitar in a coma".
I have always liked the dead for the music they play, the music is the lyrics in a way. Don't get me wrong I love the lyrics to dead songs, but sometimes its nice to let the music speak.
Subject: Jerry is losing his voice!
Subject: Front row viewpoint
To correct the previous reviewer, Jerry didn't play pedal steel guitar that night. I don't think he had touched instrument for years.
Subject: The 1978 concert broadcast
Anyway, the 3hr cassette was one of my most precious possessions - I played it through several times over the intervening years. Then, after I moved to Long Beach, CA, my pad was burglarized and my tape box was stolen. I never thought I would hear this 11/78 concert again until I found it just by chance tonight. Hooray!! It has been a wow.
Jerry had a weak voice that night, but his guitar and peddle steal were A++. Everyone else was right on. One of the greatest concerts the Dead ever played (the uptown theater Chicago then was at least par).
My thanks to whoever preserved and posted this for posterity!

Subject: Was this on King Biscuit?
Quality-wise, this show is pretty good, both in the recording and the band's performace. Not perfect, but part of the Dead's charm is that they weren't perfect.
Subject: Poor Jer!
Imagine what this show would have been like if Jerry was 100%?
I hate to say it but Donna Jean nails a couple numbers here!
Subject: Jerrys voice
Subject: What a Great venue
Subject: Awesome except for cut in shakedown
Subject: response to Bongdonkey
But, also responding to bongdonkey, Jerry's voice is NOT as spent as suggested, Yeah!! not compared to some of the 80's rusty pipes, and the band and the tempo more than make up for any vocal weakness.
I generally hear and feel the bands downhill fall from their june77 mastery, ( 6-9-77 Winterland's energy, akin to 4-29-71 at the Fillmore East), but this preformance alters my feel somewhat, and it's exciting, imagine discovering a whole new year of dead, sure I've heard Red Rocks, but now 78 seems new and special, and not just cuzz I was born that year.
thanks Bong, Archive.org, GD and co.
