This will generate a default Skin for an IL-2 aicraft It generates the default skin set from a BMP skin.
It saves time & hopefully avoids mistakes. It will also backup your original files.
It uses either a .BMP skin from... . the PaintSchemes folder .. or a BMP Skin you have created yourself ... or a BMP Skin you have downloaded
The script will quickly convert a .BMP It will automatically create the 4 LOD textures including correct alpha channel for each ... skin1o.tgb (LOD 1, 1024x1024) skin1o.tga (LOD 2, 512x512) skin1p.tga (LOD 3, 128x128) skin1q.tga (LOD 4, 16x16)
Installation & use - IMPORTANT before continuing ... Your skin TGA's must first be converted using ViewIMF ! If you have not already done this do this before proceeding.
- Extract *All files to a new folder (these files must all be located together within the same folder!) - Copy all these files to your default Skin folder e.g. 3do\Plane\SpitfireMkVII(Multi1)\summer & then Copy a BMP which is compatible for your aircraft into this same folder - Drag & Drop the BMP file onto the IL-2_SKIN_TO_DEF.BAT, this will then start the process to convert your BMP to the default Skin TGA's It will back up your original TGA's into the SKIN_BACKUP folder
I hate to use this term but in the case of ffmpeg, yes ffmpeg seriously rocks ! with a little time & patients it seems to be able to do anything... for FREE
