The diversity of each of the member's backgrounds accounts for the band's varied musical style. Nero's music is a combination of hard rock, metal, and jazz. They use this sonic canvas to paint portraits of injustice, love, and insanity. Hallucinations West, for example, tells of a journey a man takes into the western part of the country. Filled with imagery, this song explains how the Native Americans were treated with brutal unfairness. Another song on the CD, Melanie, is nothing but a simple love song about two people who thought "it would last forever," while Heart In Your Hand is about an insane but misunderstood criminal who has just escaped prison and how he explains his deluded plight to his lover.
Being big advocates of cool lyrics and even bigger advocates of cool music, Nero works very hard at writing quality songs that don't necessarily coincide with the flavor of the month. They are dedicated to follow their own instinct and fortunately have gained a following for doing just that. This CD is simply a snapshot of what Nero was like in the beginning and is the tip of the iceberg of what's to come.
