LA prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's been at it all year, calling for the criminal prosecution of George W. Bush for murder. He's written a whole book about it, laying out the legal case but many -- especially in the most powerful media -- have dismissed him and even the president's critics have poo-pooed the chances of Bush ever being brought to justice. Now there seems to be a break in the story. In this interview Bugliosi discusses the very real possibility of Bush being prosecuted for murder....

Renewable energy, racist redlining, and now possibly a renaissance. The people of Buffalo, New York have seen a lot. In the last century, this was a booming industrial town fueled by a falls and people from all over the planet. But most of the wealth concentrated at the top, and at the end it mostly moved out. It looks as if people and investment may be coming back, but will the wealth be more equitably shared? Grassroots activists are determined that this time will be different, and they're...

On January 19 and 24, New Orleans police and Louisiana state police raided eight strip clubs on Bourbon Street, the city's tourism center. Male officers reportedly stood in the dressing room while the women got dressed, took pictures of the undressed women, announced the women's legal names in front of customers, and made derogatory comments. Now the workers are fighting back. Last night, hundreds of strip club employees and their allies marched through the French Quarter in a raucous protest....

Sometime things fall apart and sometime they flow together. As the Wisconsin State Senate rammed through their union-busting bill Wednesday night, people in the capitol chanted "General strike!" And I heard an echo. Not of 1934, the last time there was a general strike in the US, but earlier. It was 1909, in the crowded Great Hall at New York's Cooper Union; a big union boss was talking about talks and a 16-year-old girl shouted out from the back: "WALK OUT." More than...

This past weekend, the Daily Beast, Tina Brown's news and pop culture website, hosted a conference attended by some big names. The Women in the World conference played host to Hillary Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Valerie Jarrett, and activists from all over the world, as well as director Julie Taymor and actresses including the legendary Meryl Streep. So why wasn't this bigger news? Is the media STILL sexist? Jane Spencer, managing editor of the Daily Beast, joins us to discuss. GRITtv with...

Race, according to activist and writer Scot Nakagawa, was an idea created originally to justify the enslavement of a people, and has displayed pernicious staying power in the centuries since. That's why, as Nakagawa explains in this video with Laura Flanders, he believes that his liberation and the liberation of all people of color in the United States is tied to the liberation of African-Americans. For Nakagawa, anti-black racism is "the fulcrum of white supremacy."

This week the People’s Republic of China celebrates its 70th anniversary as months of pro-democracy demonstrations continue in Hong Kong. The historic demonstrations began in June as a response to the proposal of an extradition agreement with Mainland China. Concerned that the bill would further erode the civil liberties they enjoy under the one country two systems principle, many Hong Kongers took to the streets. All these months later, the city’s chief executive Carrie Lam has withdrawn...

The outcome of the U.S. presidential election is still undetermined, but a clear shift to local and state elections reveals a strong and promising future for the progressive voice for justice — a future that is decided by women of color. Black Lives Matter activist Cori Bush made history with her congressional victory, while New Mexico became the first state to elect an all women of color delegation to the House. What do these campaign wins reveal about the changing face of America, and are...
