Linux Distributions

The Linux Distribution Archive is a growing collection of media for the installation of Linux on various systems from the past 20 years. Since its formation in the early 1990s, the open source nature of Linux has ensured great variation in the release of distributions, including variations on floppy disk, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and online-only.

A remaster of Puppy Linux Tahr by ETP "Inspiration for it came in the form of Windows 8.1, with its ability to switch between a traditional desktop and the âMetroâ style fondle slab interface. Other goals were Chromebook like speed together with ease of use. âBlueâ was the MS codename for Win 8.1, which hopefully it should leave trailing in the dust. It is likely to polarise opinion and is based on Quirky Tahr version 6.05 k3-12-6. The install is to a USB2 or USB3 stick of at least...

An offering from ETP and based on BarryKâs Quirky April 7.0.1 x86_64 k 3.17.4 Its main attributes are: 1. Speed. 2. Straight to HDD/SSD install, with boot provided by a separate 4MB hybrid ISO image. 3. The Main image is in tar.gz form and is to be copied onto an empty 10G f2fs partition (sda8 in the screenshots) then simply extracted in situ. Chromebook-pup from ETP: Overview: This Pup attempts to mirror a Google Chromebook. The concept is similar to Blue Pup in that it is intended to be simple & familiar in order to attract new users to PUPPY with all its benefits. It does however have a dual personality in that it can just be used in the cloud centric fashion of a Chromebook or as a normal Pup. Pretty much anything can be installed via PPM & QUICKPET....

An interesting build from ETP chromecast_pup is a specialised Pup for anyone who owns or intends to buy a Chromecast. I have found that my own is excellent with YouTube but rather poor with the experimental feature of casting a browser tab. It really comes into its own however when used with Videostream to cast local video/audio files to your TV. Even better, fellow audiophiles can also use it to stream quality audio to their Hi-Fi. If the audio kit lacks a HDMI input (Valve/Tube amps generally...

Another DLNA pup from ETP On 16th November DLNA Werewolf64 Pup was released based on BarryK’s experimental Quirky Werewolf 64.  That Pup was a full install to USB stick with a 3 partition GPT layout.  This Pup is also spread across 3 partitions of a stick but uses an MBR layout and a more traditional “Puppy” approach.  The first partition (16MB – fat32) is the boot partition and supports booting from a “difficult” bios.  The second partition (7.4GB – f2fs) contains the main...

DLNA Quirky Werewolf64 Pup for Smart TVs The primary purpose of this Pup is to act as preconfigured self-contained DLNA server. No special setup is required.  To that end it contains a third 7.9GB f2fs partition (The media “pool”) with 7.1GB of free space.  Three test videos are already present on that partition.  The target device is a 32GB USB2 or USB3 stick but see the first item in the FAQ.  Thanks go to BarryK for his Quirky Werewolf64 7.3.2 (Released 15th Nov) upon which this Pup...
