Presented for historical context only: A college radio morning show aircheck from 1977.
It wasn’t supposed to be my final show on WPGU-FM, Urbana. I was supposed to have returned to the University of Illinois campus to spend the summer working on a master’s degree. But my dad’s health took a turn for the worse (before getting better), so I instead spent the summer looking for work and failed to make it back that summer, except to empty my apartment.
So this “so long for now” show became my actual swan song at the station. It’s not great listening—especially because of bleed-through from previous recording on the tape. But it does include some far-more-professional-sounding newscasts by Kurt Wehrmeister, Jane Selinger, Bill Jeffreys, Marcy Epps and Alan Gold, all of whom I was honored to share the airwaves with.

I know it doesn't seem like it, but your stuff is great. Please don't get discouraged by the lack of Thank Yous. Most of my video uploads I carefully researched the tapes, saved money to buy the lots, bought 2 VCR DVDs AND $800 on a Betamax ordered the digitizing setup, cleared room in my tiny space, reviewed and cataloged all 700 tapes, prioritized them, digitized them 16 hrs/day,uploaded and gave thorough descriptions and uploaded them AND ALL WITH NO HANDS! I have probably had 5 thank yous. But I do it for the sake of giving good stuff new and unlimited life!
