Handwritten letters sent by Nepalese merchant Harkha Man Singh Tamrakar (extreme right) from Kolkata, India to Kathmandu, Nepal. Harkha Man of Kathmandu was in charge of the Kolkata office of Ghorashar business house in Lhasa, Tibet. The letters are addressed to Dhan Maya. Harkha Man has written that her second son Karuna Ratna has left Kolkata for Kalimpong en route to Lhasa with 36 loads of textiles and 603 tolas of gold.
