U.S. Navy uniform regs.
Topics: Regulations Governing the Uniform of the United States Navy 1883, Navy Regs
The rank of Chief Petty Officer was created in 1897 and the enlisted rank insignia (rates) changed and the design of the new rates now look much like they do today. The later regulations of 1905 slightly differed in minor detail of how the eagle was perched on a branch, this was also the last time colour plates appeared until 1941 for the last time,

They wore cotton summer khaki uniforms dyed green and made up ranks as shown with major's gold oakleaves, crossed cavalry swords, etc. An M-1 helmet liner with a shaped piece wood attached to the top to change its appearance. Years later Aggessor Forces wore Soviet style collar and epaulet insignia.
