Subject: fun time
Subject: atrocious dark star
The interplay and contrast between Haynes and Sco is amazing. The jams here really soar into the spaces that I really enjoyed visiting when listening to the Dead play these tunes. I love it when these guys takes risks and stretch it out.
Thank God Phil is still with us after all he has been through health-wise. Keep it coming, man!
Subject: GREAT SHOW
Camping the whole weekend, created a great enviornment for a show...Neighbors camping on the
access road within the camping area were extremely
As I listen here to the recording, It brings back Intense memories.... Althea ....Scarlet EYES Fire
Whooooa.....The first set was so long we all were
wondering if Phil was going to Play 1 long set or
if there was going to be a break....After Eyes Phil tells us not to go anywhere they'll be back in "5 minutes. and I mean it, 5 Minutes"....
Well after taking care of some business the boys were right back at it....The sound was some of the
best in years....It seemed that the Energy level of all was mighty....Phil mentions this during the donor rap and Thanked us for Making Music w/ them....What a great EXPERIENCE All around....
Oh yea the bears running through our campsites added that extra that Festivals Give you...
For those who missed, the music is here , However the Experience was At The MOUNTAIN.....
Thanks to Warren for getting it all Together...
Subject: Good summer comeback for Phil
Anyways, great comeback summer show for Phil. Displaying an almost completly different lineup from his more recent shows (minus John Molo) the Waren Haynes/ John Scofield combonation really worked and the two seemed to dig on Phil's jams without nessisarily trying to copy the dead version bang for bang. Guest keyboardist Steve Molitz is from my hometown of Boulder and normally plays w/ Partical and he seemed stoked for another opportunity to play w/ Phil (as he should be)
Musically we get some Phil stapples, Unbroken Chain, Eyes (which is particularly rocking since in the middle of a Scarlet>Fire) and a Dark Star. Some unexpected ones include a banging version of the dead rarity Mason's Children where both Warren and John seem to weave the love well. Good Opener w/ Shakedown
Like the closing Lovelight and NFA but could have gone with a NFA>GDTRFB>NFA for the ULTIMATE closer, but maybe i'm biased since thats one of my favorites. No matter, still a great show. Hope Phil continues to play and spread the love.
Subject: Best version so far
Subject: Wasn't There, Sounds GREAT!!
First Set Highlights: Scarlet>Eyes>Fire was so fluid.
Second Set: No one I know expected an Unbroken Chain from Warren, being a more bluesy guitarist, but again, w/ Scofield it gave it a great feel.
Lastly, Phils vocals were on spot, and that's what really counts.
