s non-Phish endeavors aside from Oysterhead. Thats why I'm glad this show did not turn into Trey A. and Freinds. Really liked Trey's guitar work on Franklin's, parts of Dark Star, and especially Buckets of Rain. Joan Osborne's singing was great throughout.
Can see why some cited soupy, muddled jamming, but from what I heard, that was kept at a minimum; the only part that really seemed unenjoyably aimless to me was about 15 min into Cryptical Envelopment. But then, after about 5 or 6 min, the band was back in control and closed the song with a tasty finnish. Besides, this is jamming, its not meant to be 100% perfect. Its important that these guys take risks, and it takes a real pro to get out of a crappy groove.
I was also happy, almost relieved to hear Trey singing a well-done Eyes of the World because the 12/02/05 show (the last Trey show I saw) he played with Bill K. and Mickey Hart in San Francisco showcased an abismal rendition.
Entertaining show, super solid performance - definitely going to be rockin' this one for a while.

I agree with my main man BZL that there is some syrupy, meandering jams which seem to come at the expense of playing tight and these 2 are not mutually exclusive. It's hard to say if I was bopping around on the floor what I would think but guess the Hammerstein's general admission would have been the preferred venue for this.

Performance: Wow! That jam out of Cryptical is something else. Is there a bit of "Baby, You're a Rich Man" in one of the themes?
Subject: Really good show

Subject: Performance Overcomes Sound
Otherwise a hot show, great jamming, must stream if not also download.
