Kifah was born, and grew up in, a refugee camp in Bethlehem and came to Dublin 6 years ago.
His life up to that point was one of a child born into occupation: poor living conditions, violence and danger all around and a family under massive pressure to survive.
In this episode, he describes some of his experiences growing up there, and explains how his father left them to work in Ireland, in the hopes of making a better life for them all. After 10 years of effort and patience, the family were able to move to Dublin as Irish citizens.
But Kifah’s connections to Palestine still exist and carry great personal meaning to him. You’ll hear the story of his young cousin Ramzi, who still lives there, and why Kifah is working so hard to help bring him to Ireland for a better life. ____________________________________________ HODCast is a weekly chat with people from Dublin (or living in Dublin) about Dublin, about themselves and, ultimately, about what it means to be human.
