Sessional Papers of Canada Collection

The Sessional Papers of the Dominion of Canada--

Sessional Papers are reports and papers which have been tabled in the House of Commons (and sometimes the Senate) and deposited with the Clerk. These papers include annual reports of government departments and boards, the Estimates, the Public Accounts, and the reports of the Royal Commissions.

Material for this collection has been provided by Robarts Library, University of Toronto; Toronto Public Library: Research and Reference Libraries; Brian Dickson Law Library, University of Ottawa; and the Library of Parliament.

The Sessional Papers are available in both English and French.

Reports of the Fisheries Branch covering 1915-1919 were printed under the authority of the Department of the Naval Service and titled "Annual Report of the Fisheries Branch of the Department of the Naval Service.". Report covering 1920 is listed as Department of Naval Service in the Sessional Papers table of contents, but the title page of the paper attributes report to the Department of Marine and Fisheries.

From 1906-1919 this report was titled "Report of the Militia Council for the Dominion of Canada." This report was preceded by "Report on the State of the Militia of the Province" from 1856-1867. From 1924 -1932, it was continued by the Department of National Defense as the "Report of the Militia and Air Services" and the "Report of the Department of National Defense" from 1933 -.
