The Suffering and Celebration of Life in America
By Shane and Amy Bugbee, 2012
This 534 page epic is the culmination of a year's travel and interviews with a rich variety of Americans - Every stop between the Christian right and the liberal left, with anarchists, nihilists, and beyond questioned in more than 40 interviews.
The subjects covered in the interviews are Politics, Religion, Art and Revolution, including questions on voting and capitalism. This book is a true slice of life, and a deep look into the disenfranchised of America, which today appears to be a war on the intellectuals and the creative class.
Interspersed between the subjects are the journalist/author's experiences on a year long road trip, undertaken at a critical time in America - the year leading up to the 2008 election, and a critical time in the author's lives - a series of events have sent them out on the road with no money, and no home to return to.
