“One of a kind” “A head shaker and a mind melter” “What did I just see?” (IMDB reviews quotes).
Off-the-wall British science fiction that’s a strange mix of mystery, social commentary, the red scare and comedy. The real mystery is how Paul Douglas was roped into staring. Well maybe he wanted a free trip to Austria. The supporting cast and production values are good enough to make this curiosity worth watching for dedicated ‘50s sci-fi fans. IMDB rating 5.3.
Although "The Gamma People" is not that bad of a movie, it's also not that good either!
To me, this movie kind of reminds me a bit of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"...
...without musical numbers...
......Columbia tapdancing her way through a castle...
.........or Peter Hinwood in tight gold lamè short shorts, shaking his moneymaker!
Anyhoo, back to THIS beast. I would try to lay down the plot for you, but I honestly can't. But, that's only because I seriously have absolutely no idea of what the hell I just watched. To call this movie a "Train Wreck" is befitting, since the movie starts out on a train. The next thing you know, Frank-N-Furter has you striped down to your underwear, and doing the "Time Warp"!
Bottom line, watch it/don't watch it. Either way, you'd get more entertainment watching paint dry. And, you wouldn't be left scratching your head, wondering what the hell you just watched. Because you'd know. You just watched paint dry!
To give this movie a 0/5 star rating is an insult to this movie. It should be a -20/5 star rating.
