Subject: The Qur'an
Good translation but I recommend reading others like Hiali & Khan which I uploaded here - TheHolyQuranTranslationByHilaliAndKhanCOMMENTARYANDAPPENDIXIII_201412 - and Yusef Ali translation Qur'an.
You will see Arabic on one side and English on the other side. A true Qur'an is the Arabic, if you see a Qur'an without the Arabic, then it's just a translation and not a Qur'an.

Subject: If you want to fight over words...
I will treat the words found herein as I would any other work of art, and enjoy their perspective.
I doubt they will drive me to do anything other than read more D.T. Suzuki and Alan Watts, and bury my poor non-religous fanatic, non-gun-toting maniac head back in the sand, and hope I die a semi-natural death that has nothing to do with some douchebag's number of concubines in the afterlife.
Instead of worrying about the afterlife, how's about you getalife. Just a suggestion.
"I believe Jesus was born, and he was a nice guy, but he's not my messiah...he's just this guy, you know?"
Can we get some scans of Zen Buddhist texts to balance this out? Anyone? Just asking, my man, just askin'.

Subject: Keep your debates somewhere else
This text on the INTERNET ARCHIVE is for prosperity, not so you can debate in the REVIEW section. Think about it for a second people, if you want to debate this, there are plenty of sites for that, PLENTY. If you want to review this specific translation or the Koran, do that here, that is what it is for. But, come on people, you are just acting like 2nd graders. "My dad can beat up your dad."
Now, you may say "Aren't you doing the same thing, using this space for something other than a review?" Yes, I am, so I am a hypocrite, like every one of you. So, for this I appologize and say thank you for allowing me the opportunity.
Please have respect for other peoples in this world. Every one of you who think the "other side" (by the way, there are more than 2 religions in this world) is wrong and are horrible people, go introduce yourself to someone who practices that religion. See what happens. That is all.
Sorry and Thank you.
(the 3 stars is because I am not reviewing, in my mind the middle vote, closest thing to a non-vote I can do.)
John 5:23 He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Subject: Islam-Religion of Peace
(uh, on who's terms and what transalation of the word, peace)
It's a backward religion that breeds war and terror against ANY infidel(non-muslim's)
How 'bout- "peace" = submission to alah
If you are really interested in a more accurate "translation" by another, more objective Christian scholar, you may download the "âÂÂtranslation" of the Koran by George Sale found here:
Why the word "translation" is parenthesized? It is because Muslims use a different term instead, i.e translation of the "Meanings" of the Holy Quran . That suffices... to avoid translators' misplaced assertions of command over the language and intent. If the Koran is the literal words of God revealed to Muhammad directly through the Holy Spirit, it is seen as a really gross overstatement for anyone to say that his is a "translation"â of the Koran .
If you are even more interested in finding out how Muslim scholars have "translated" the Koran, go to the following link where you will find "Three Translations of The Koran side by side". One of the three translators is an American, another is from India/Pakistan, the third is an Arab. Compare and enjoy!
Subject: Allah had no son vs. The Father had a Son
The Koran: (Translated from the Arabic by J. M. RODWELL)
Sura 6, verse 101: "Sole maker of the Earth! how, when HE hath no consort, should He have a son? He hath created everything, and He knoweth everything!"
Definition of an Infidal:
Sura 9, verses 30: "The Jews say, 'Ezra (Ozair) is a son of God', and the Christians say. 'The Messiah is a son of God.' Such the sayings in their mouths! They resemble the saying of the Infidals of old! God do battle with them! How are they misguided!"
Sura 9, verse 31: "They take their teachers, and their monks, and the Messiah, son of Mary, for Lords beside God, though bidden to worship one
God only. There is no God but He! Far from his glory be what they associate with Him."
Sura 17, verse 111: "And say: Praise be to God who hath not begotton a son, who hath no partner in the kingdom, nor any protector on account of weakmess. And magnify him by proclaiming His greatness."
Sura 18, verse 3: "And that it [The Koran] may warn those who say ,'God hath begotten a Son.''
Sura 18, verse 4: "No knowledge of this have they or their fathers! A grievous saying to come out of their mouths! They speak no other than a lie."
Sura 19, verse 90: " None shall have the power to intercede, save he who hath received permission at the hands of the God of Mercy."
Sura 19, verse 91: "They say: 'The God of Mercy hath begotton offspring.' Now have ye done a monstrous thing!"
Sura 23, verse 93: "God hath not begotton offspring; neither is there any other God with Him: else had each god assuredly taken away that which he
had created, and some had assuredly uplifted themselves above others! Far from the glory of God, be what they affirm of Him!
Sura 25, verse 2: " His the Kingdom of the Heavens and the Earth! No son hath He begotton! no partner hath He in his Empire! All things hath He
created, and decreeing hath decreed their destinies."
Sura 25, verse 3: "Yet have they adopted gods beside Him which have created nothing, but were themselves created:"
Sura 37, verse 151: "Is it not a falsehood of their own devising, when they say, 'God hath begotton'? They are indeed liars."
Sura 44, verse 81: "Say: If the God of Mercy had a son, the first would I [Muhammand] be to worship him:"
Sura 44, verse 82: "But far be the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth, the Lord of the Throne, from that which they impute to Him!"
Inside the building (Dome of The Rock) in classical Arabic is inscribed, "O you People of the Book, overstep not bounds in your religion, and of God
speak only the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is only an apostle of God, and his Word which he conveyed unto Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from him.
Believe therefore in God and his apostles, and say not Three. It will be better for you. God is only one God. Far be it from his glory that he should have a son." ( Reference - Sura 6,9,17,18,23,25,28, 37,38,44, www.warneveryone.com, click on Dome).
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
John 5:23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
(The Koran does not honor the Son)
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me [Jesus], because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John 10:18 No man taketh it from me [Jesus], but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making
himself equal with God.
Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. (The three in one)
Mark 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
The moderate (lack of conviction) Muslims will not and cannot comment on
the definition of the Koran's Jesus because if they did they would by
default condemned the Jesus of the Bible, there by removing themselves from
the moderate position.
According to the Bible:
The Father proved his love by giving his Son.
The Son proved his love by going to the cross.
The Holy Spirit proved his love by living in believers.
What has Allah proven?

Subject: The Eloquence of the Quran
"Say:'If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support"
[The Holy Quran 17:88]
Still this challlenge is open after 15 centuries.
This is the eloquence of the Quran to the degree of miraculousness. Its eloquence originates in the beauty of its words, order and composition, its textual beauty and perfection, the originality and uniqueness of its styles, the superiority, excellence and clarity of its explanations, the power and truth of its meanings, and the purity and fluency of its language. It is an eloquence so extraordinary that it has been challenging for fifteen centuries the greatest literary geniuses, the most wonderful orators, and the most profound scholars among mankind to compete with it, to produce a like of it, or the like of even one of its suras. Although it forcefully challenges them to compete with it, those geniuses who, in their self-pride and self-confidence, see themselves as high as to touch the heavens, have not been able to open their mouths to compete with it and have humbled themselves before it.
It still remains with its original purity, without any additions or removal from men, not like any other revelation.

The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew, with scattered passages in Aramaic. It was first translated in its entirety into Aramaic and then, in the 3rd cent. AD, into Greek (the Septuagint). The New Testament was originally in Greek or Aramaic. Christians translated both Testaments into Coptic, Ethiopian, Gothic, and Latin.

Subject: The Koran can be translated !
But, The Koran can be translated, like any other book. Also, what is unique for the Koran is the flexibility of its philosophy which depends on logic. Such type of books can be translated with saving its meaning powerfully in any other language .. yet Arabic will be always the mother tongue of the Quran.
Subject: Don't Blame the Manual for the Failure of the Device
That's NOT what America stands for to me, and I hope it's not what it stands for to anyone else. It's odd to me that someone would say "this book should be banned..." in a country that has long celebrated the right to free speech and tolerance of all races & religions. This, my friends is what our country was founded upon and a part of what made it special from the very beginning. Lest the colors of old glory fade and the flavor of America become sour, this is how it should remain. To tolerate others and their beliefs does NOT mean believing them yourself. There is nothing lost in tolerance, but arrogance. It's simply granting those different from you the same freedom and consideration you yourself enjoy. We are all human beings, let's act like it!
In Islam it's written:
"None of you [truly] believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself." Number 13 of Imam "Al-Nawawi's Forty Hadiths."
In the Bible it's written:
"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." Luke 6:31
Those of you who have grown up here being able to criticize our presidents & government without worrying about what THEY will do to you already know this taste of America. It would make no more sense to restrict our freedom to the Koran for being misused by an evil group of people, than it would to lock away the bibles or any other religious texts. All have been misused at some time or another by people with shallow minds and corrupt hearts. Even if scriptures didn't exist such people would still find reasons to hate each other; they'd simply look elsewhere for their inspiration.
Any scripture can be used for evil in the hands of a spiteful person. In the hands of a magnanimous person, such scriptures can be a great inspiration to kindness and expression of humanity at its best. A persons hands could save a life, or take one away. But it's the PERSON who is responsible, not the hands. It's the same way with scriptures.
So, my fellow Americans, next time you have the opportunity to write a review; before you start peppering the page with as many racial slurs and curse words as you can come up with, I hope you will pause for a moment and consider what type of image you're trying to project of yourself and of this country.
Whether Animist, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or otherwise I wish you well and hope you find and share kindness with others.
Subject: Truth About Holy Quran.....
Being the verbatim Word of God, the text of the Qur'an is valid for religious purposes only in its original Arabic, cannot be modified, and is not translatable, although the necessity for non-Arabic interpretations is recognized. This has made the Qur'an the most read book in its original language and preserved a classical form of Arabic as an Islamic lingua franca and medium of learning.
