The other day I walked by this old Oak Tree deep in the woods of forgotten sadness and noticed this strange eye in the bark of the tree staring at me. Wondering why I just stood there looking at this eye, looking at this eye and just wondering why.
I asked the eye, "What are you looking at?"
The eye said nothing for underneath the eye there was no nose or mouth in the old Oak Tree, just an eye. I'm telling you the truth for it's no lie...it even began to cry.
I asked, "Contact lens problems or do you need some eyedrops? You know allergies hit me hard during this time of season, but hey at least you don't have pink eye going on so at least you got that going for you."
The eye just looked at me and did nothing but looked at me. It stared right at me as if staring deep into my soul, knowing everything about me, my good deeds and sins, my memories of yesterday, and forseeing my future or doom.
I jerked my thumb back and said, "You want me to go back home, hook up a huge 100 feet extension cord, and get you some cable television out here?"
The eye winked at me...and hours later if you pass by my woods you can faintly hear a marathon of Spongebob Squarepants.
