an open convention has already begun. mitch daniels was on "hardball" last week with chris matthews. boy, did mitch daniels sound like he wanted to be drafted. he's got a new book out. he says, look, the candidates are not being specific. the candidates welcome timid. i, mitch daniels, am being bold. i'm out there. paul ryan did the same thing today. as you said during the illinois primary he chose to do this and advance of the wisconsin primary, by the way, which is his home territory. and i think paul ryan considers himself a national player either to define the conversation or be on the ticket as well. interesting contrast between the kanld dates who are running who are often very vague and the sort of why don't you draft me, people, like mitch daniels and paul ryan who are saying we're the brave specific ones. >> paul ryan has to hate live in the house of representatives right now. he got as high as he can get. he can look forward to another 30 years as chairman of the budget committee or maybe getting on that romney ticket. does he solve romney's problems if he's the number two

the governor right now, governor mitch daniels is meeting with the family to talk about the damage here. the family who lived here, they survived, however, this is kind of a plot of farms, if you will, and many people here are related and unfortunately, an aunt and an uncle who lived across the road and they had a 4-year-old baby with them, they all died as did somebody else further down the road. however, an 82-year-old woman rode out the storm by herself just a quarter mile that way. it's really hard to imagine. all day here, we have seen this neighborhood come together. the family as well as friends picking up immediately. this has been a massive cleanup operation already trying to gather together everybody's belongings as best they can. to give you a sense of the damage over here, take a look, the trees completely stripped of their bark and you can see across the road, more damage. the police have been here and what's really been oppressive, i think, is to see the probably complete strangers showing up here and people who live in indiana showing up to help clean up, to cut down

drafted, like jeb bush or chris christie or mitch daniels. no one knows what happens. all we can say for certain at that point, the vips would indeed become very important. they are more than 100 top party players unpledged delegates who can vote for whomever they wish. many of them have already stated a preference for mitt romney but if he seems wounded, they can change their minds. in any event, if there is a floor fight for the nomination, and it cannot be resolved, they would have the final word in selecting the nominee. very few republicans want to see that happen for a simple reason. it would expose deep divides between the party itself and there is something even more important. nominees who emerge from divided conventions like that rarely as you know win the general election. >> i love that virtual convention. those people the delegates at that virtual convention very well behaved. >> not only that, they're actually selling virtual souvenirs. i have picked up a virtual weeble. at the convention. they're selling like hot cakes over there. >> they were screaming, very polite. >> vi
