let's check your drive, here's mike. >> all right, christina. we'll take you out to the roadways and we'll see what you can see over here. westbound we see a lot of traffic. it is a concern because it is traffic tuesday and this dublin flow is typically lighter than what you see on a tuesday. let me show you on the maps tri-valley and lighter flow of traffic and upper speeds and flowing right at the dublin interchange and south 680 at the bottom of your screen and this, this traffic was held up westbound 580 and an earlier stall over on the shoulder and now a crash in this backup. this is a problem coming out of the altamont pass and then easing up and a benefit for folks traveling through livermore and eastbound getting out of the area also distracted by the activity and slowing eastbound just approaching that same area and we're looking at a smoother flow for 84 and slowing and typical for the tri-valley. here's the south bay with northbound 101 and slowing there and your typical spot, but, again, little lighter than we expect at this time on

good morning to you, mike. >> good morning, christina. you are trained to read the meteor logical signs. i am trained to read the traffic signs. specifically the sign that says ramp closed. that ramp is closed. northbound 880, i'm a genious. folks in the south bay. this doesn't take much to forecast. look at the maps slower drive that will develop there. we already have your commute kicking in as the arrow shows you north 101 slows coming up towards 880 and that interchange and the opposite direction. it is northbound 880 and southbound 101 where that connector will remain closed auntil possibly 5:00 p.m. repair work for significant pot holes continues and that will be closed and as folks start to slow as we have the build late in the commute and that will be a big problem as you head up towards 87, which will be your alternate and first street if you can see on the surface streets and just enter southbound 101 in that area. again, watching the approach to the transition because the transition itself is closed. tri-valley moves very smoot

christina, this heat advisory is in place for most of the bay area, right? >> yeah, it actually starts at 1:00 p.m. and stays in effect, all the way until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, when we see an even hotter day shaping up. temperatures at this hour, i don't want to bury the lead by any means, but look at these numbers. 82 degrees currently. not even lunchtime just yet. in the south bay, we're at 81 for the peninsula, 82 in the east bay, and 71 in san francisco. we're on our way to the mid-90s for today and temperatures creep up even more so as we get into tomorrow, making this warmest spell we've had of the year so far. tomorrow, we'll trade in those mid-90s. up to 105 degrees in places like gilroy. thursday, it will be noticeably cooler at the coast. and into the end of the week, into the weekend, that's when that heat will break, but staying above average. we'll show you how this works out for your microclimate in moments. right now, back to you, scott and peggy. >> kris tchristina, thank you. >> with the temperatures soaring today, cities across the area are o

let's check in with meteorologist christina loren. i know we are spoiled. >> you know how it goes in the bay area, the heat comes in waves. we have bypassed the hottest wave. we're still mild and we are in the 60s, but a gorgeous sunrise starting to take shape. that's right, shaping, tanker going through there and just nice and clear and you can see from top to bottom, no low clouds. takes your breath away a little bit this morning when you get to see something like that. typically we kick off the month of may with may gray and that is the low clouds we see in the morning which makes for nice, sunny finishes. as a result, we're starting out so mild and temperatures are easily going to climb into the 90s as we head into the afternoon. 92 degrees is the forecasted high in the south bay and happy to report still in the good to moderate air quality range and air quality has not suffered through this heat wave. as you make your way out the front door widespread 60s to kick off the day and a few 70s out there and another hot one inland. str
