leadership at sfmta it's teacher that we are having to face an unprecedented number of accidents fatality and serious injures about one hundred a year has been the average we want to curtail that and seriously do something about that we've joined together the supervisors along with our office and the sfmta police department and others to suggest that we can end it we have to that r that goal of vision zero in 200240 to make sure we're serious today is another effort here anothers e.r. by a street has been a tragic we hoped not to have happened but also in you ride along the sunset boulevard you can feel that some individuals that are not going to pay attention will view and use this as a freeway it's not a freeway a major pedestrian and traffic thoroughfare that must be right handed for all the modes of transportation and consider people kwhor walking and riding as well as the speedometer so today, we're here on the establishment of a traffic signal but we know that no traffic signal in and of itself nor stop sign will ever create the level of safety we all want to have happy. so it is to

the process is properly scoping a process and we've provided goals for the sfmta staff to work and make sure their scoped properly and we result in a visible product so there's lastly a planning match for the city grant for the transit with the priority and lastly the match for the grant funds which again is community based. so we've made it to the end of the slide i'll say quickly in total when i consider all 21 of the programs it's about $585 million in prop k fund for the next 5 years not including the transbay and central subways their leveraging about $2 billion in funds that's a sequesterer estimate this is a 47 percent increase in the last 5 years and this is exciting we want to see more projects and benefits delivered to the public i'll not the majority of this is the replacement of tire fleet f this is a terrificly critical project but other careers that are related to vision zero all of them have substantial increases as well this is the subsequent increase in deliver so in september in the last 5 years is the adaptation of our strategic plan that's our thirty year docume

our discussions and collaboration with sfmta, on the transportation improvements. and i mentioned before, that the improvements for the brandon street, wharf that met the fill removal subjects that we have with bcdc and now we are extending open space interest through the green way and through the channel through the improvements that you have seen so far with the bay, and the park that is now proposed as part of the sea wall lot, 337 development. and the mission bay, walkway, the bay side, park, walkway. and a lot of time in this report, to talk about the predevelopment planning with the community, and come up with a strategy for how to improve the sea wall lot, 337, and pier 48, and they were remember nent left overs from a previous mission bay plan and did not have a future, and so through this community efforts that gave rise to the proposal that the giants are now trying to advance. and in the southern water front, the southern most, fifth and subarea of the water front, that is where our cargo and operations and the ship repair industries reside and are embraced in the water

limits so as we look ahead we've gots got system improvements to do, in fact, sfmta is getting ready to experiment with a mobile tithing service we want to see whether it's worst the expense to do innovation on the back end we can learn from n them in the next clipper generation we'll have the payment options we're looking at our peer agrees. this map shows in black the fair system that is currently operational and in red moving into a reject generation and that's chicago and toronto and washington, d.c. so we have a lot of speculators and grateful that areas like chicago and d.c. are moving ahead of us we can learn from them. specifically what are our plans we have a contract that extends through november of 2019 we don't have to have a system in that time but to keep it the contractor that provides the clipper system that is going to end at the end of 2019 we have architecture go limitations we have very complicated recreational policies and we have and so all those things inspire that laying in new intelligence today is expensive and risky and pushed united states to the point of wha

sfmta parking cards as well as pay by phone and coins, and have the larger display screens which is a concern that we heard a lot from the older meters and importantly if you do pay by phone and it will show up on the meter display, which none of our existing meters did. and there is some technology cal flexibility that will allow us to have the meter service the mum pell purposes such as the part time and general meters pashing at other times and in the course of upgrading we are not making other changes to rates or time limits or anything else that would always be done separately through the action of the board or otherwise. but we are replacing all of the meters in the city, we should be done with that by february of 2015, and the folks that have been out in the neighborhood have seen them already and so we are glad to be able to report on that. and we have got good feedback so far, and but, by february 2015, all new meters in san francisco which is good news. and then, final item of my report. is disclosure of labor agreements. and just to catch everybody up, you will recall that

discussion of the taxi issues. number one is this is that over the past four years the sfmta has taken over the taxi commission and we have chaos today. anybody that wants to get into the car can be a taxi driver and go up to the new terminal and pick up passengers. if you look around the area and the hotels and taxi planning never took place. the only place i see it in the city and county is sfo and partially in the embarcadero but not completely. i consider this trans bay project equivalent to the embarcadero center, one, two, three and basically where you have no taxi plan whatsoever. two, is briefly i make this statement because i have applied for the taxi director position four times in 10 years and -- [inaudible] to this commission but you're talking about kronism is taking over the sfmta. mr. reiskin can ask you about cost over returns as he triples the prices for taxi drivers in this city and we don't have a level playing field. i come also as a veteran and not hard hat vets or working with the commission or sftta or city and county of san francisco and caltrans and i don't see evid
