are here to talk about sfmta involvement. and i feel like i live here working there's high tech people around you but aside from the technology advances this offers carl will touch on the ability to make further policy changes i'll underscore that is no small challenges given the operators we have we support you carol >> thank you for that enthusiastically and positive introduction. climber has come a long way i'm going to talk about where the clippers are where we're planning for the next generation and happy to take questions. so very quickly as i think most of you know hopefully from being clipper card yours clipper is in place and allows seamless traffic from the all the major bay area riders we have 1.4 million active cards this is progressing more than $35 million and of note for this group 9 million of the board of directors we support are on muni and about 50 percent of all rides are taken with the clipper card. so we're focused on making sure that the clipper works for the operations today and as well as there's an c

cup and then further the assessment that the sfmta is now carrying out today. and so, we realize that there is always, still new opportunities for how we can, and improve the transportation needs and respond to the needs that the people have for today, but it is important for the public to understand that there has been a tracking of this issue for many years. and a few weeks ago, we were here before you to brief you on the enhancement project and that is the latest, initiative that we were working on with sfmta to bring forth safer and better bike access along the embark der row. and with that, i think that i will turn it over to brad, and he will give you a overview on the development project, and the capitol improvements. >> thank you, diane. >> and thank you commissioners. brad benson, and director of special projects. this is been, you know, an amazing effort of the port staff to put together this report, across all of the ports divisions. and i just want to say that what a pleasure it has been for me and i worked with bar, and buy ron and all of the port

so a little bit about the schedule the environmental document was approved by the sfmta and even though lead of the project contributed to the sfmta and peter has been leading the effort and mta implemented the design so it's underway a new project cac was formed and they've met on june 26th a new group of people some people from the environmental cac were there the final design takes us stilettos sum and construction beginning in early 2016 with revenue options in the mid of 2018. with the completion of thirty percent design in the conceptual engineering report there was a new cost estimate to increase to $162 million it's completely fund through the recreational and was the federal small start fund. the c e r identified a few challenges with the project technical and otherwise they've found first they're focused on the station design so one of the goals of the projects is to achieve the level boarding where the doors line up with the platform and there's issues with the vehicle prosecute curd the lug nuts stick out they'll scratch a platform and in addition trying to achieve vertical

and including credit and debit cards and the sfmta parking cards as well as pay by phone and coins, and have the larger display screens which is a concern that we heard a lot from the older meters and importantly if you do pay by phone and it will show up on the meter display, which none of our existing meters did. and there is some technology cal flexibility that will allow us to have the meter service the mum pell purposes such as the part time and general meters pashing at other times and in the course of upgrading we are not making other changes to rates or time limits or anything else that would always be done separately through the action of the board or otherwise. but we are replacing all of the meters in the city, we should be done with that by february of 2015, and the folks that have been out in the neighborhood have seen them already and so we are glad to be able to report on that. and we have got good feedback so far, and but, by february 2015, all new meters in san francisco which is good news. and then, final item of my report. is disclosure of labor agreements. and just t

and i was i got hired for those, and the sfmta for october of 2011 and i am glad that it was advice and so that we get equal pay and i appreciate that very much. and as i said in mr. haily that june second, i did work, on my days off for tuesday and wednesday, and that monday, i worked and that tuesday and wednesday i need a day off because i could come in here and hold my head up high and talk to you and have you listen to me if i were to, you know, got sick, and so, here i do appreciate it and i want to think that the way that the out come came is because i presented my numbers to the board. and every saw it and they asked me if we had a firmly and apologized and said that the numbers were correct and we are like a family and we argue. but we are good. you know? and i want to thank you, and thank you very much. and you know it was great. >> two things that i wish to say for one thing the whole problem for the muni drivers could have been prevented if the proposal was from the start and no members of this board or no executive, or anyone in a position of administration would have agree

number one is this is that over the past four years the sfmta has taken over the taxi commission and we have chaos today. anybody that wants to get into the car can be a taxi driver and go up to the new terminal and pick up passengers. if you look around the area and the hotels and taxi planning never took place. the only place i see it in the city and county is sfo and partially in the embarcadero but not completely. i consider this trans bay project equivalent to the embarcadero center, one, two, three and basically where you have no taxi plan whatsoever. two, is briefly i make this statement because i have applied for the taxi director position four times in 10 years and -- [inaudible] to this commission but you're talking about kronism is taking over the sfmta. mr. reiskin can ask you about cost over returns as he triples the prices for taxi drivers in this city and we don't have a level playing field. i come also as a veteran and not hard hat vets or working with the commission or sftta or city and county of san francisco and caltrans and i don't see evidence of that. there are
