>> announcer: news 3 starts right now. >> krystal: good afternoon. joined this afternoon by kyndell nunley. appreciate you being with us. imagine renting a house for the weekend, you are on vacation when you realize the person you rented from has been watching on hidden camera. >> kyndell: that's what one man is accused of doing right here in the valley. news 3's craig fiegener joins us live. the cameras were hidden in smoke discovered. it was a group of las vegas visitors. they booked a house to stay in while they were here in january. and they noticed while they were in the house that one of the smoke detectors appeared to have what looked like a camera lens in it. so they called metro. metro sent out detectives and detectives ultimately found eight pin hole type cameras hidden in smoke detectors and in one case a radio that sat on a desk that faced a bedroom bed. it was learned about yesterday. but it happened in january. the eight co-workers rented a house for the week when they were here for the consumer electronics show. they rented it from a man named chris rogers. the camera

surrendering to police. >> krystal: kyndell nunley, she's been on top of the story, is live outside the clark county detention center. kyndell we are learning more about this man including his name and who he is. currently here at the county jail behind bars. he faces charges connected to the murder of his grandmother and will be in court tomorrow. just two hours ago police released his booking photo and he is accused of following his grandmother out of their home near lake mead and rampart where police say he beat her in the street then shot and killed her. neighbors watched it unfold. some tried to save her by giving her cpr but he was pronounced dead -- she was pronounced dead in the street inside the home. police say francis refused to leave the backyard. nearby homes had to be evacuated. after three hours he finally surrendered. >> right now we have a suspect in custody and a family member he has shot and killed. the motivation or the how this interaction happened, i don't have that answer. >> kyndell: this marks the 128th homicide investigated by metro to mark -- [ lost audio ] .
