"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live in wilmington and talk to those mourning her loss including her fiance, david? >> reporter: nicole, it is a sad story here in wilmington. i walked around and heard about this fire fighter, a senior fire fighter that has been with the department since 193 but tonight i spoke to her fiance who could talk about her at home, his fee april say and mother of three. sound of chime blanketed the will mink than sheet where ardythe hope lived but her fiance would over shadow that sound with pain. >> he was a great woman, that she was the best thing that ever happened to my life. >> reporter: derek woods devastated when he learned the love of his life senior fire fighter ardythe hope died after fighting for two months, following this wilmington fire in september. >> it is right now my mind is just so worried about the chil

it's a sad day here in the city of wilmington and the surrounding area. the city was praying for hope that some how she would pull through but new the odds were long. the wilmington fire chief was emotional during his media briefing this morning. fire chief anthony good speaks this morning. the third firefighter, hope died vault of a late support arson. 68 days ago that fire left burns over 70% of her body. >> weeks ago on a thursday we were called to the hospital and we worked diligently to get the family members to the hospital for what we thought would be arty hope's last night and she lasted two more weeks. hope was a 23 year veteran of the department and two other veterans perished in the inferno. they were killed september 24th when the first floor of the house collapsed and a fellow firefighter brad speakman was also injured during the disaster and was released after six weeks in the hospital. his road to recovery is a long one, he and hope became trapped as they tried to rescue captain leach. and hope was due to retire and take up nursing a mother

fellow firefighter its gather in wilmington delaware today to say goodbye to ardythe hope. she died after battling severe burns for more than two months.
