kpix 5 julie watts is there now. remake as you just mentioned, you can see crews finishing up behind me and traffic is running smoothly right now, on highway 37, historically, highway 37 does flood at the lowest point, but over the last couple of years, they've done a lot of work and they've actually fixed that, now, the area that normally does flood is not a problem, they are more concerned about an area that is farther east, chp actually placed a cone on the side of the road, of what is now the lowest point in the road, westbound 37, just west of the black point atherton avenue exit, they say the cone, we took video of earlier today, was completely dry, at 1:00 this afternoon, and then, just a little while ago, the cone was partially submerged. obviously the water is not moving very quickly, chp does not anticipate at this rate that they will have to shut down the freeway tonight, for the evening commute, however, they do think they may see enough water come through that there may be an impact for tomorrow morning'

kpix 5's christian hartnett is in downtown san jose with an update. what can you tell us? >> reporter: you can still barely smell the gas. it's pretty much gone away. you can't see anything right now. when we showed up you saw gas spewing in the area and what looked like smoke. you couldn't tell what it was but there was something in the air right around that spot where they have roped off. now the site of the smoke or gas whatever we were seeing is gone. the smell is just barely there. it's lingering but still right now, crews, fire crews, san jose fire, pg&e, they're still on site over there, um, evaluating the situation trying to get it fixed. it appears as at this point as if the leak has stopped but we don't have official word of that just yet. right now you still see workers, employees in nearby buildings around here kind of right on the outskirts of the caution tape just looking and waiting and hearing word to see when they can finally go back into their buildings. they haven't heard anything just yet. a lot of people saying we were told to get out and evacuate and
