cracks if we didn't have healthy san francisco. one of the unintended consequences of the aca is the fact that employers are going to appear to be driving down hours for many workers so that they don't need to provide insurance and that's something that is happening all over the country to part time adjunct contingent faculty members all over the country. there are teachers, professors who are not getting the same number of classes or the same number of hours. we're already seeing health care access diminished as city college of san francisco for our part time faculty and we ask that you defend healthy san francisco so that there will be some place for them to go and so that there will be some place for the thousands of others who need to have access through healthy san francisco and won't get it otherwise. thank you. >> i have a few more names. these two programs, healthy san francisco and sf path have put san francisco well ahead of the health reform implementation curve compared to other states in the nation, healthy san francisco was created in 2007 and because of this long history we have of coordinating scare for the uninsured, we have largely add deed pent up demand, it is a spike in utilization that occurs when an uninsured person first gets access to health insurance. we've promoted the medical home model, our uninsured are already used to the medical home, our managed care and which will be most prevalent under health reform. we have more providers in our community who are committed to serving our low-income population and more importantly, we know who and when are uninsured are for the most part, for 71% of our uninsured, we can send them a let e call them on the phone and text message them, we can tell them of the changes that are coming with health reform and help them enroll into health insurance, sf path has given us some experience to create a managed care environment because it is subject to all the rules as

the breaking news tonight out of san francisco. a boeing 777 has crash landed at the san francisco international airport. witnesses say they saw the plane come in and it appeared to tip. they say the tail hit the ground and then ripped off. one witness says a giant fire ball simply developed from under the plane and the airliner flew into the grass as passengers evacuated and emergency crews rushed in. here's what we know right now and i must admit there is a lot we don't know. here is what we know. there are at least 28 people in hospitals in the area. san francisco general hospital says they have ten ctically injured and two children. they also are expecting 15 more patients. we also know that there were 291 passengers on the plane and 16 crew members. 61 of the passengers we are told are americans. and the ntsb, national transportation safety board, is sending what they call a go team to san francisco to begin this investigation. people were -- who were on that plane already shared some pictures with us. this is what they saw. s

we need to do a lot in san francisco to encourage young people and young families to stay in san francisco. i think we are missing out on a lot of our diversity when young families leave our city. we need to do all we can to be mindful of the needs of young families in the city. we mentioned housing. schools are a big deal. but also being able to be flexible with transportation and children. >> what is happening with crime in your district? give me your thoughts on how you think the police are doing with respect to crime in your district? >> i think we are very fortunate in district two. we have a number of great police captains that oversee the stations that touched district two. richmond and northern are the two major police stations that touched the district. we do have a lot of crime in district 2. both crimes against individuals but also against merchants along our merchant corridors. chestnut. union in particular has been hit. fillmore and sacramento. it is a big deal. we also have the break-ins. we need to be very mindful that people keep their iphones and laptops out of sight. but

[ applause ] so as mayor, one of my many goals during my term in office is to empower all of the residents and make our city even more responsive, efficient and accountable to the voice of all the di

san francisco resident and supporter of shell shock. so, three things: recs are not real green power. let me say that again, recs are not real green power. these are not my words. these are words of former general manager mr. ed harrington. he said this to this body three years ago. he said that consistently until the point that he retired. what was passed by the board last september was not a rec's based program. recs are energy, they don't create energy, they are not renewable in the sense that energy is not generated through recs. in fact, we, the ibw and labor in general has worked very hard to eliminate recs as much as we can because they don't produce electricity. in california where we have 20 percent of our energy coming from renewable sources currently and we are on our way to 33 percent, we don't need recs. they are not a viable approach. i must say we we were surprised when this proposal actually came through. recs don't contribute to work and jobs. as was mentioned the city is already generating electricity renewable locally
