dead at a santa clara park and was murdered. the body of 54-year-old rainardd hyde was discovered across the street from the safeway where he worked. his co-worker is under arrest. lilian kim is in santa clara tonight with the story. lilian? >> caller: >> reporter: dan, ray hyde and his accused killer worked at this safeway on homestead road, about a ten-minute walk from where hyde's body was found. 54-year-old ray hyde worked in the meat department at the santa clara safeway, across the street from central park where his body was found near the duck pond on friday. >> there was no obvious sign of trauma, no gunshot wound or knife sticking out of him, anything like that. but there were things at the scene that investigators were concerned about. >> reporter: the coroner confirmed their suspicions and on tuesday, his co-worker was arrested, 25-year-old gage mccartney. officials are working on details. he'll be arraigned on friday. until then, the single father of three was an active member of cathedral of faith in san jose. >> wh

that's the job of the santa clara convention and visitors bureau. but at the end of next month, that organization won't exist. a staff of 14 will be out of work. >> it's devastating. especially when you have 14 people who didn't do anything wrong, who did nothing but support the city of santa clara, talk about the city lovingly and caringly for many, many years. >> reporter: the city council in santa clara decided just over two weeks ago not to renew a contract with the chamber of commerce, which in turn manages the convention and visitors bureau. questions were raised about a sharp jump in fees an discounts given to chamber members to rent facilities. >> when we had an audit done, an outside audit done back in march and we discovered that moneys were being used in different ways than we had anticipated. >> reporter: the convention and visitors bureau grossed almost $19 million in future bookings in the last year in revenue for its hotels and generated over $136 million in economic impact. the bureau also helps to draw bookings for levi's stadium an

the group gathered in santa rosa today.... about concerns that a newly formed legislative committee is considering cutting utilities' responsibility when their equipment causes fires. the legislation would protect companies like p- g-and-e. p-g-and-e equipment started several wildfires last year, killing 44 people. the company says, it expects to pay more than 2-point-5 billion dollars. but the group is worried, lawmakers may move quickly to help the utilities. attorneys for northbay firestorm survivors say, that pending legislation would allow p- g-and- e to 'pass on' the cost of the 2017 wildfires and future wildfires to ratepayers.
