so first, let's go to meteorologist justin berk. >> all right, justin, good morning. >> reporter: we passed high tide three hours ago without flooding so no big deal, right? we are following ocean city 4 to 5 foot waves, 77 degrees and rain. yet another report j. just offshore, 15 to 21 foot waves. now let's show you what the ocean looks like. there is a squall line just offshore. i can tell you that it's actually started to push the water back up. i said the tide was peaking about three hours ago. the water is being pushed ahead of that squall line. occasionally you can see some of waves breaking at 10 feet or so, and we've got some spray you can see the influence of strong winds at the top of some of those waves blowing that basically from north to south. the sea is getting angry. you have to ping-pong your shot in either direction to see the strong waves. fred, go back the or way. we've got one that just broke right there. we have 10 to 12 foot waves coming in. the beach itself here at 18th street is holding up well. we had flooding problems where we lost sand in the 100s yesterda

here's meteorologist justin berk. >> we are checking out the latest on earl. earl has gotten stronger. it really increased strength yesterday. it surpassed that. this morning's advisory from the national hurricane center, showing 145 mile-per-hour winds. a very clear distinct eye now. roughly 30 miles across. the wind field of tropical storm force winds extends 230 miles away. which means if the center of the storm is 230 miles away from ocean city, they'll still get tropical storm force winds. the one good thing here is that the passage of earl off the coast will be the weaker side of the storm. usually the right side with forward motion. the worst part of the storm is out to sea. the beaches under a tropical storm warning. winds averaging between 40 and 60 miles per hour this time tomorrow into the early part of the afternoon. waves probably 10 to 20 feet. we'll be standing there live from ocean city. coastal flood advisory, not from weather, at the bottom of the screen you see winds averaging 9 or 10 miles per hour. really the impact's not there yet. rain b

it's great. >>> let's look at the weather with justin berk >> 6:14. the latest numbers now, into the storm center. temperatures becoming a little bit more uniform. we were in mid-50s in baltimore versus 30s in york. now that clouds moved in we basically still have a 7-degree spread but 40 in york, 50 in town. 45 towards easton. temperatures not moving much today. it appears as if least light rain, regional radar, a little extra sensitive to pick up some of the finest of the droplets coming down. i still expect a dry morning. however, there may be light sprinkles trying to roll in from the north side as we get on in through this morning commute but i think the best cans of our rain will arrive late morning and in towards the afternoon because there's reinforcing shots back to the north and west. a northwesterly flow actually includes a band of moderate rain just north of pittsburgh in through northeastern ohio. this does look impressive. this is in response to fast-level winds in the atmosphere. not a well organized system but in and of itself, yes, ca

here's meteorologist justin berk. >> we are staying cold but not as cold. temperatures yesterday 28 degrees. but wind gusting over 40 miles per hour. definitely the hardest day to be outside since last winter. what we are going deal with here is continued cold temperatures and not nearly as windy today. a storm system staying just to our south tomorrow could produce light snow baltimore and southbound in the afternoon. and evening. but heavier snow will fall in virginia and north carolina. they may win again on sunday with a coastal system and i know there's a buzz on internet about this. but there's some uncertainty as one computer model that tried to give us a good hit yesterday afternoon for the sunday storm is pushing that same storm same time frame out to sea. posting more information on that on my blog today at abc2news.com. but currently it's about the cold air. 19 and dry in baltimore. wind chills 7. this almost matches where we were yesterday with 11 the wind chill on the eastern shore in easton. we are expecting 26 by lunchtime. the wind 20 to 30
