the shanghai markets are all ending higher. the nikkei actually closing at its highest level in a month. you see it up 1 and a quarter percent. european shares are higher as investors digest a slew of numbers coming in, the including the latest figures on manufacturing and employment, investors are focusing on the manufactured pmi. again, if you take a look at the european markets, you will see the dax is up .3 of a percent. and the kak is up by .7 of a percent after closing at its worst quarterly drop, gold is bouncing back this morning. it's helped in parts by the san francisco fed president john williams. on friday, he said he is backing off his view the fed should start cutting stimulus this summer. you are right, backtracking on all of this stuff. gold is up by about $15.16. back to $1,042 an ounce, gold is taking a toll on investors in david einhorn's green light capitals. that fund was down nearly 12% in june. it's down about 20% for the year. >> here in the united states, despite shortened week, on once, adp is out with

shanghai getting up to 38 degrees. another sweltering day on wednesday. tokyo, 34 and staying dry. 36 in chongqing. towards the north, a little bit cooler in the upper 20s there. and quite unstable. and we'll see some scattered thunderstorms down towards the south. all right, on we go into the americas. and severe storms are erupting here across the northern tier of the u.s. and into canada as well. you can even see some tornadoes with this system. it's bringing winds of up to about 100 kilometers an hour. you could see golf ball sized hail and also some rain, heavy enough to cause flash flooding issues. so there's your severe area. and it's quite wide dipping down all the way down into kansas. much of the eastern two-thirds of the continent is going to be dealing with rain. but the central plains further down towards the south as well you've been dealing with some really extreme heat. temperatures in the mid-30s in denver, into oklahoma city as well as in houston. things are looking very hot indeed. and quite unstable too. up towards the northwest much m

as far as temperatures though, shanghai with a high of 38, seoul at 29, seeing showers here. tokyo, cloudy skies but don't be surprised if you see an afternoon thunderstorm pop-up especially inland going through wednesday afternoon into the evening hours. let's talk about the americas. really, it's the meandering jet stream out here which is dominating the weather pattern right now. i'll show you what i mean here. over towards the west we have this high pressure ridge. and look how far north that jet stream is continuing to push. then it dives down into the gulf of mexico where you have this low pressure area though that is the air being lifted up. and it's also dragging in this moisture in from the south off the atlantic pushing it on shore. the next several days many areas see about 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall. already flash flood watches in effect here as well. and even some strong storms, actually a tornado reported in new jersey. so this is going to be continuing to be a problem through the next several days. it's just the fact that this is lingering, it's not goin
