i want to point out shanghai here on our temperature chart, 38 degrees and bright sunshine. that's going to feel very intense indeed, but you're tapping into some of those showers a little further north in seoul. on into the americas. more rain here spread out across the eastern third of the united states. a lot of heavy rain. that's going to be the main concern here. but you'll also see gusts up to about 90 kilometers an hour. further towards the north along the u.s./canada border, we have the low moving through onontari. and more wet weather out here towards the southwest. we've been talking about flash flooding happening in nevada as well as in arizona. the suburbs of phoenix we were talking about very dramatic rescue there of people being air lifted out of their vehicle that got submerged in waters. well, things are going to be wet here into your monday as well. temperaturewise staying hot in the center of the continent. denver down through houston in the mid-30s there. little cooler up towards the northeast, new york tapping into some of those thunderstorms, 27 degrees.

north of that things are on the hot side across chongqing, shanghai, 37 and 38 for you. northeastern china, on the other hand, some areas could see about 100 millimeters of rainfall going into tuesday. even out towards wednesday, even seoul will be seeing some showers, it's the stationary boundary, the same one bringing the flooding rains across much of northern japan. et cetera let's look at the americas, we have the monsoonal flow coming in off the pacific here and that's been triggering the showers much of the southwest. right now we have this disturbance there into the plains, coming off the central rockies. in portions of kansas, oklahoma, you could see 48 millimeters of rainfall as it pushes through. pushing to the east, we have this high pressure in the great lakes and then a low pressure moving out through ontario and quebec. now the high pressure is the big story with this. we are seeing the rain showers, the thunderstorms ahead of it. but what it did, it's bringing in the cooler air from the north. and northern minnesota, during the early morning hours on monda

shanghai, mid to high 30s as well. towards the americas, what's going on here as far as the upper level low which is still spinning over texas, drawing in moisture from the west. portions of northwest new mexico seeing heavy showers and risk of flooding and flash floods. this will weaken out but really pop-up thunderstorms across much of the northeast at this time into the midwest and great lakes. you see this set upright here? this will drift in from the north. there's a risk of severe weather thursday and friday. main reason is because it's very hot and humid. the atmosphere is unstable across the great lakes. 34 in chicago, 32 in toronto. new york at 35. what it feels like due to the heat and mugginess of the atmosphere, some places into the 40s. you'll want to stay cool especially in some cities where you don't have air conditioning in a few places. so it really is going to get quite hot. a similar picture right now into southern france towards northern italy, showers there. a few could become strong. look at a hig

shanghai is reaching 39 degrees, quite a dangerous level. even western japan is in the bulk of that. kyoto where the gion festival is held, 35 degrees until friday, but take a look at hangzhou, the 40s to friday. do stay hydrated. let's look at the americas where the cold front is sagging all the way to the south. and due to the tropical moisture from gulf of mexico, this is the collision and thunderstorms are very active across the southeast. another area we're looking at thunderstorms, and this one actually could even spawn tornadoes. we have a tornado watch in southern manitoba as we speak. flash floods are also still posted, risk is actually posted in a wide range in the southwest and down to new mexico due to the moisture surging from the bay of california. it's quite hot. still that heat dome across the pacific northwest, but cooler and dry across the great lakes region. and that includes chicago, toronto, looking at nice temperatures but houston's reaching up to 37 degrees and phoenix, 41, las vegas in the 40s, too. let's move over to

"wall street journal" says the new cuts will come at middle management levels in the sales and support divisions. that would be on top of 5,000

following yesterday's 3% surge of the shanghai composite led the decline in the region, down 1.6% today ahead of the key data due out next week. mainly banks lost ground. beijing has already been drafting plans for promoting interest rate liberalization and may soon scrap the floor for lending rates. markets fear this will bring more competition and squeeze bank net interest marriagens. gains on the market, tanking nearly 6% in today's session. q-3 operating profit came in worse than expected due to discounts and marketing expenses. goldman sachs cut the outlook for the financial year. the worst performers in south korea were hyundai and kia motors. shares plummeted about 5% to 6% in today's session on worries that their car sales may dip in china as more chinese cities may restrict new car purchases. and the australia market, the best performer for the week, gaining nearly 3% over the past five sessions. gold miners like newcrest, evolution and kings gate, they once again outperformed the broader market jumping to 9%. back to you, ross. >> sixuan, thanks for that. that's where we stand

the shanghai composite jumped to almost 2% and the hang sang hong kong gained 2.3%. elsewhere, japan, south korea and australia, those shares all ended in positive territory. in china, as you can see from the first row here, banking shares made a strong rebound on both mainland and hong kong forces. local analysts suggest the interest rate reforms will have limbed impact on the short-term while lower interest rates will support growth in the real economy. the property sector which has a relatively high dependence on bank lendings also enjoyed the rally. china merchants gained almost 6%. and chinese railway stocks also chugged ahead on hopes of a supportive measures. cfr corporation gained over 8%. on to japan, mobile carrier softbank was the outperformer on the nikkei 225. soared by 5% after reports that it will raise the bet 35 million u.s. dollars to stock new smartphone hand sets. south korean technology shares also rallied ahead of earnings results. lg electronics gained almost 4% and samsung electronics rallied almost 3%. let me quickly show you gold miners. the
