Description : Henry Alton Hyde (1871 - 1949, Harold Hyde's grandfather), proprietor of the H.A. Hyde Co. Nursery on old Main St. which today is near Hyde and Freedom Blvd, Watsonville. H.A. Hyde grew a special strawberry called the 'Hyde Banner Berry.' In addition, he volunteered in the community, started the Watsonville Band, served as the first president of the Watsonville YMCA, and served 27 years on the Watsonville School Board.
