Lots of suspicious events, but Floyd, the victim, was not acting!
You ask why there are four officers shown. Officers Kueng and Lane were the ones who initially responded to the complaint. One of them was reported to have been on the other side of the vehicle helping to hold down Floyd while Chauvin was placing his knee on his neck.
You can clearly the reason for the fall was that Floyd turned his ankle on the high curb - he was probably not paying attention properly as he was mortified. And you can see in the video where he is sitting outside of the shop, the officers are yanking at his arms after handcuffing him, and this would have caused great pain.
Darnella Frazier, who took the cellphone footage, arrived later. Obviously the police were waiting until somebody started shooting before they accellerated the murder.
As you can see in the video of Floyd being murdered, Chauvin uses the curb to press against the other side of Floyd's neck while pressing on the other side with his knee. But he was also "toying" with Floyd by allowing him to plead for mercy by periodically shifting his weight away - presumably to prolong the agony.
In regards to the issue raised by the question "Can someone really not breathe when someone kneels on his neck and is the victim really able to speak for considerable periods of time if he can’t breathe?" (or the criticism that one would need a lot of pressure to kill Floyd), they belie some naivete about the anatomical aspect. The guy lying beneath a knee placed in such a manner on the side of his neck has a serious dilemma. If he tries to keep his neck from getting broken, he must tighten his neck muscles, but if he does that, his carotid artery will be pressed hard and he will thus effectively be depriving his brain of oxygen supply in order to prevent his neck being broken.
Actually, in light of the fact that it is the carotid artery that supplies oxygenated blood to his brain, Floyd isn't lying when saying he can't breathe, even if oxygen is flowing through his trachea; because the intake of oxygen through the trachea must come at the cost of freer flow of oxygenated blood to the brain - while the flow of blood to the brain, which would be accomplished by periodically releasing tension in his neck would come at the cost of keeping the trachea in position to breathe. And this is apparently why Floyd and the cop are constantly "wrestling", while the cop is constantly trying to aim the weight concentrated on his knee so that the carotid artery is pinched.
And this is probably why Floyd has to alternate constantly between a stiff position and a loose position while twisting in order to get the pressure away from directly contacting the artery.
And this is probably why people think Floyd is play acting and dramatizing.
But notice how Chauvin applied stronger pressure on Floyd's neck after Floyd lost consciousness by leaning into the neck while supporting his thigh with his left arm in a cocked position. It was intended to make sure he would not survive.
I would imagine that after Floyd was loaded onto the fake EMT van, they made doubly sure Floyd would not survive; and they probably also tampered with the body by adding Fentanyl and meth in order to raise public suspicion that he was a drug addict.
