Preparing for progress...

As the Internet Archive is preparing for new website features (like helping navigation and discovery), we are running some code over the music collection to get "acoustID's" and musicbrainz recording ids when available. These are based on audio fingerprints, and add metadata to the files.xml file in the items.

These will not have much immediate impact (and no changes to the files), but it is the first time a bunch of these concerts have been processed in a while, so hopefully things don't fall over.

The next step after this will be to link the bands to musicbrainz artist ID's and we hope that will help get other metadata from musicbrainz such as reviews, amzn, and discogs links.

please let us know if there are any issues that come up, but again, this is mostly just metadata work.

Hi Brewster, I did email Jeff and Tracey. There definitely are some coding issues or something going on. I am seeing codes prior to metadata info , files not showing but if you go into replace files they are there, no player etc.

john--

there was a different error effecting files.xml introduced for new items last night. effected items will be repaired. (we are also working on trying to handle items with large numbers of files more efficiently, which was the motivation for that change).

if you saw problems in older items, please cite an example as we may have different issues. Thank you for the help!
