We have been rederiving audio items to add some waveform images that help on the v2 site, but we have suspended that because we have run into issues with md5 checksum mismatches emailing people.

There is nothing wrong, it is just because we are tickling old code that was meant for the initial upload process.

So we have stopped the rederive and will work on figuring out what to do.

Sorry for any alarm to uploaders.

are the mismatches real? Perhaps the files have been changed and the md5's are no longer valid? A workaround is to delete all md5 files and let the LMA enjoy flac FFP files instead, which conveniently don't change if you just alter metadata.

Now, if someone has altered a file, say, to remove a nasty click or reduce howling feedback, and not updated the MD5 file, then they should get an email so they can fix it, or a curator can just take the above measure, and delete md5's, and roll with ffp's to keep the fileset available.

... Check mod dates on the files and look for one or more FLAC files with a newer date than the md5's!?

At this point we are noting the results of the md5 check but stopped sending email at this time.

we are working on getting an idea of what it takes to run over all of the audio in the archive-- fun, but big task.

A mass run did go through, but it did not do much. But it did find a bunch of issues with audio items, just by touching them all again, so that is going through some cleanup.

Aaron Ximm is working on running the more full redo, but running into all the issues you would imagine, so it is slow.

Ah yes, I remember Jeff e-mailed use etree admins with a list of about 700 shows that needed some hand-massaging. It was on thanksgiving. I'll take a look at the e-mail now!

Thank you for keeping our concerts in such good shape.

I found an issue with some popular dead shows today and ran them by tracey, and she said there were some things we needed to do. It might be that rederiving with more of the fixes turned on will help. Please stay in touch on this stuff because there may be some easy things to do that will help lots of concerts.
