The Internet Archive is working with researchers at Columbia University and a university in Barcelona to run their code on the music collections of the Internet Archive.

https://blog.archive.org/2014/11/18/music-analysis-beginnings/

With this, we will be able to do music matching (make even like shazam), and get some automatically derived features like beats per minute, genre guesses etc.

They will use the output of these programs to help in their research, and we hope will help in navigation services in the future.

What all this means is there will be new derived files in the same directories as the original files.

We hope this is not a bother, and actually exciting, and ultimately useful. I can not wait to see what the computer programs make of the wide diversity of pieces in the netlabels collection.

A number of dramatic changes have occurred to my collection. Is this part of the analytics programs? And if so can you put it back?

Sorry, I was sent into the beta Internet Archive version without my asking or being informed. It was then difficult to find the "Exit Beta" button at the top right of the screen. The changes had nothing to do with your music analytics.

The beta does have a exit survey so I'll use that. Thanks.

ah, https://archive.org/v2 is a big difference. pls do comment, we are very interested.

you should not have been thrown in (unless someone put /v2 at the end of an archive.org url). at least that is our intent.
