Greetings all...

I have been creating videos ILLUSTRATION ANDA MOVIE

https://www.youtube.com/user/tbdeinc/videos

and...

Youtubes copyright system is being used by SONY to claim HIS GIRL FRIDAY as Sony's.

So the Movie is Blocked. Period.

I filed a dispute and it came back as rejected.

I am at a point where I delete the video... or continue the dispute and get a STRIKE against my channel.

If I do continue the dispute... Is there ANYTHING I can say to change the copyright claim and free up the movie?

Thanks.

U.S. films released before 1964 became public domain if their copyrights weren't renewed after 28 years. I can't find a renewal for HIS GIRL FRIDAY (1940).

If there were a renewal, it would look something like this one (for a Bogart film):

IT ALL CAME TRUE, a photoplay in
eleven reels by Warner Bros. Pic-
tures. (C) 6Mar40; LP9521. United
Artists Television, Inc. (PWH)
1Feb68; R428508.

Whoever claims to be the "copyright holder" ought to be required to show the text of the copyright renewal and to tell us where we can find and verify that text.

The film is included in the Mill Creek movie-pack "Hollywood Comedy Legends". That indicates that it's probably p.d.

However, I seem to recall Video Cellar's talking about films that were kept out of the public domain by their music.
