“Christ is risen!” “He is risen indeed!” This is the astounding truth that we remember on Easter Sunday. This is the truth that has been proclaimed ever since that first Easter weekend when the disciples discovered that the tomb was empty and they saw Jesus alive again. This Sunday we are reminded from the first letter of Peter what the event of Jesus’ resurrection means for us today. It is a truth that brims with hope and joy and overflows in praise to God.

In the third in our series "Prayer 101: An introduction to the Psalms" we see how the Psalms give voice to our everyday trials. Psalm 3 is the first prayer in the book of Psalms and it is a cry for help amid trial. It is to God that we are to turn in times of difficulty, and it is as we turn to him that we find confidence and strength to meet the day and the sure promise of future deliverance.

It’s all too common that Christians have conflict with one another. James 4:1-12 tells us that the problem begins in our hearts, as we put our own desires ahead of loving our brothers and sisters. Though we are all prone to this, the good news is that in the gospel of our Lord Jesus are found all the resources required for reconciliation and living at peace with one another.

The first in a short sermon series on the prophet Habakkuk. As we dive into this part of God’s word recorded around 2600 years ago we find Habakkuk wrestling with the same kind of questions that confront us today. Habakkuk looks around is confronted by violence and injustice in his society and he wonders why God doesn’t do something about it. This week we see that God does hear our cries for help and we also consider how he answers this prayer for us.

Jesus welcomes people (Mark 11:1-19) God’s gracious purpose has always been to gather a people to himself. The story of the human race however is one of turning from God and banishment from his presence. And yet despite our rebellion God’s intention to bless humanity and to welcome us home remains and is restored through the coming of Jesus, his life and his sacrificial death. Today we consider the welcome that God has extended to us and to all people through Christ and what that means for...

At the time of the first Christmas many were awaiting God’s salvation, and yet no one was expecting the way that He would bring it about. This sermon focuses on the good news revealed to Mary, that she would bear a son who would be God’s long promised savior. As we hear this good news afresh and see Mary’s response of faith, we see how the news announced at that first Christmas is still good news to sing about today.
