This paper is to design PID controller to supervise and control the speed response of the DC motor and MATLAB program is used for industrial application . PID controllers are widely used in a industrial plants because of their simplicity and robustness. The results obtained from simulation are approximately similar to that obtained by practical. Also the dynamic behavior is studied. By Manoj Kumar Ranwa | Ameen Uddin Ahmad "Speed Control of DC Motor using PID Controller for Industrial...

This paper presents the speed control of a separately excited DC motor using Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC). The Fuzzy Logic Controller designed in this study applies the required control voltage based on motor speed error (e) and its change (ce). The performance of the driver system was evaluated through digital simulations using Simulink. The simulation results show that the control with FLC outperforms PI control in terms of overshoot, steady state error and rise time.
Topics: DC motor, chopper, FLC.
Brushless Direct Current motors are extensively used in many of the industries because of its low cost, high speed torque characteristics, noise less operation. Speed controlling is Very important. By using the Arduino Board interfaced with the Electronic Speed controller, Motor speed can be is controlled by varying the 10k pot. The parameters like Speed, Current and Voltage are Monitored on the LCD and the same parameters are monitored from remote access through the configured electronic...

**DC Motor Controller Box** This is a box to house a DC motor controller to control speed and direction of a DC motor. The controller bolts on the bottom of the box with four M3 x 6mm long screws. The lid bolts onto the top of the box with eight M3 x 6mm long screws. I used heat-set brass thread inserts for the mounting threads. On the controller there is a yellow light for “on” and two red lights for “forward” and “reverse”. I designed tubes that transfer light from the leds thru...

The speed of a DC motor can be controlled by providing a DC input voltage that varies at the input terminals. It can be done by controlling a PWM-VSC (PWM-Voltage Source Converter). This paper analyzes an control strategy of PWM-VSC using fuzzy logic to obtain varying DC voltage and according to the DC motor speed as desired. The control strategy of PWM-VSC directly using the switch variable in dq rotating reference frame as input variables obtained from SVPWM (Space vector Pulse Width...

The main target of this paper is to control the speed of DC motor by comparing the actual and the desired speed set point. The DC motor is designed using Fuzzy logic and MPC controllers. The comparison is made between the proposed controllers for the control target speed of the DC motor using square and white noise desired input signals with the help of Matlab/Simulink software. It has been realized that the design based on the fuzzy logic controller track the set pointwith the best steady...

Stand-alone applications of Photovoltaic (PV) can be found in water pumping systems for rural area. The proper electric motor must be chosen for optimal considerations. One of the modern electric motor called brushless motor (BLDC) can be an alternative for this application although it has complexity in control. Powering such a motor by using electric energy generating by PV modules will be an interesting problem. In this paper, a PV powered BLDC motor system is proposed. The PV modules must...

Speed control system is the most common control algorithm used in industry and has been universally accepted in industrial control. One of the applications used here is to control the speed of the DC motor. Controlling the speed of a DC motor is very important as any small change can lead to instability of the closed loop system. The aim of this thesis is to show how DC motor can be controlled by using PID controller in MATLAB. The development of the PID controller with the mathematical model...

This research aims to propose an optimal controller for controlling the speed of the Direct Current (DC) motor. Based on the mathematical equations of DC Motor, the author builds the equations of the state space model and builds the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) controller to minimize the error between the set speed and the response speed of DC motor. The results of the proposed controller are compared with the traditional controllers as the PID, the feed-forward controller. The simulation...

This is a walking mechanism based on the Klann linkage, seen elsewhere in form of spider-like creature. Now instead of making one set of linkage for each leg, I copy the movement of the leg tip to the back side and connect them using two bars, here the foot and the connector. The wide foot surface would enable it to walk over soft terrain like sand, where common pointed legs could be stuck in. This set consists of 2 feet with 180 degree phase difference. Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are becoming an increasingly popular motor of choice for its unique characteristics. The BLDC motor drive is assumed to have trapezoidal back-electromotive force (EMF), rectangular phase currents and together produces the desired torque. However, practical back-EMF waveform might not be exactly trapezoidal because of current ripple, design considerations and manufacturing limitations. The adverse effect is the torque ripple generated due to the current ripple that...

This is a walking toy with 6 legs which uses a simple linkage found elsewhere. You only need 2 screws (M3), one with length 15 mm and the other 30 mm, for the gears' axles. For the motion source, a DVD or CD motor can be used. Place for batteries not included, anyway... I have to think where to put them. Single lithium ion cell at 3.7V is enough to propel the thing. Maybe a 9V battery will do too. For a complete set, print 2x frontaxle (which is identical to back axle), 4x frontleg, 2x midleg,...

An idealized BLDC motor has trapezoidal back EMF waveform. However, for practical reasons like non-uniformity of magnetic material and design parameters it is difficult to produce exact trapezoidal wave shape. Therefore torque ripple appears in conventional control. This paper, introduces the Hysteresis Current Control (HCC) method to minimize the...
