An EEG electrodes holder for a basic 7-electrode EEG setup using g.SAHARA electrodes. This is my entry in the Ars Electronica 2017 Br41n.IO hackathon, awarded the second place. A result of ~6 hours of design, it is still quite rough around the edges, but a good starting point for further refinement. I have attached the STEP file if you want to play with it. The decorative legs are aligned with the electrode placement lines, so it is easy to add additional electrodes. A big Thank You to the...

The objectives of the program are to provide design criteria for long life, light weight silver-zinc batteries for military aerospace applications. Effort is concentrated on the zinc electrode and separator since these are recognized as the major causes of premature failure of the silver-zinc battery.

The current Lower Earth Orbit (LEO) environment has become overly crowded with space debris. An evaluation of types of debris is presented in order to determine which debris poses the greatest threat to operation in space, and would therefore provide a feasible target for removal. A target meeting these functional requirements was found in the Cosmos C-1B Rocket Body. These launchers are spent space transporters which constitute a very grave risk of collision and fragmentation in LEO. The...

An overview of the NiH2 cell development is given. The NiH2 SAFT system is an electrochemical (single or dual) stack (IPV). The stack is mounted in an hydroformed Inconel 718 vessel operating at high pressure, equipped with 'rabbit ears' ceramic brazed electrical feedthroughs. The cell design is described: positive electrode, negative electrode, and stack configuration. Overviews of low earth orbit and geostationary earth orbit cyclings are provided. DPA results are also provided. The cycling...

A new floating double-probe method is presented which has advantages over other floated-probe systems previously described in literature. The method utilized two electrodes, one of constant area and the other with a variable area. The two-electrode configuration is separated by a fixed bias voltage. The current-voltage characteristics of the new technique, which are generated by varying the area of the one electrode, are identical to those of a simple Langmuir probe, thus coupling all the...

A summary is presented of an investigation on the development of electrochemical tools for studying the electrode-electrolyte interface and on their application to systems of interest. A triangular sweep generator was designed and constructed for use with potential sweeping experiments, and the palladium-hydrogen electrode was studied. Two new techniques for the measurement of double-layer capacitance at solid electrodes were also developed. Capacitance measurements were made on silver...

Research during the past year has been concentrated on the developement of the InP optoelectronic switch and on the evaluation of this switch as an electronic mixer. This type of mixer appears well suited for use in a time-integrating correlator which employs a heterodyne detector array. In such an array, a small high-quality mixer is crucial. InP optoelectronic switches have been fabricated using interdigitated-finger electrode structures with finger and space lengths varying from 6...

Porous conductive supports for electrochemical cell electrodes are made by electroforming thin corrugated nickel foil, and by stacking pieces of the corrugated foil alternatively with pieces of thin flat nickel foil. Corrugations in successive corrugated pieces are oriented at different angles. Adjacent pieces of foil are bonded by heating in a hydrogen atmosphere and then cutting the stack in planes perpendicular to the foils.

This report focuses attention on the neglected gas-heating stage associated with a spark. A brief review is followed by summaries of recent experimental and theoretical investigations. It is shown that in all cases gas heating is preceded by the formation of a weakly ionized plasma. It is desirable to employ a corrosion screening test for catalyst or support candidates for the fuel cell cathode before entering upon optimization of the candidate or of the catalytic electrode. To this end, corrosion test electrodes, intended for complete immersion and maximum wetting, have been made with 30 to 40 vol. pct Teflon; with perovskites this is about 10 to 15 pct. The candidates were synthesized by methods intended for single-phase product without special emphasis on high surface...

The open circuit impedance of 10-A h sealed NiCd cells has been measured from 0 to 100,00 Hz as a function of cell state of charge and temperature. The open-circuit impedance at frequencies below 0.01 Hz is modeled by two consecutive diffusion-controlled charge transfer processes in the NiCd cell. Data analysis indicates that both solid-state diffusion processes and electrolyte diffusion processes are consistent with the data.
