Your Sinclair HIgh Resolution Scans, 600dpi good for 4k televisions and hopefully good for archiving and retouching for future preservation. This is one of the most iconic of the early 8 bit mags. Happy Trainspotting!

NASA and University researchers recently used an uninhabited aerial vehicle (UAV) to monitor a coffee plantation from the air—even though the sky was 80% covered by clouds. The Pathfinder Plus UAV cruised over the Hawaiian plantation for four hours, collecting over 300 images. Controllers directed the UAV to areas with breaks in the clouds, which allowed the researchers to create a nearly cloud-free composite image (shown above).“The mission demonstrated the capability of this type of...

In Western Australia (left) and Northern Territory, numerous fires were burning on from May 2002 into June and early July. In the high-resolution imagery, several large burn scars are evident near many of the fires. These fires are burning in the tropical savanna regions of northern Australia, and come each year during the dry season. Fires occur for various reasons, including those set on purpose for agricultural purposes, those set to clear land of invasive plants, and those set to reduce...

In this paper a novel method for image enhancement using PDTDFB (Pyramidal Dual-Tree Directional Filter Bank) and interpolation has been adopted. Generally, in digital images since the different kinds of noise highly affects various image processing techniques it is always better to perform denoising first. Here, first of all the image is decomposed into two different layers namely low pass sub band and high pass sub band after which denoising is being performed on both the layers so as to...

Kwangju (or Gwangju) Metropolitan City is the fifth largest urban area in South Korea. With a population of 1.4 million people, it is a major economic and cultural center for the southern portion of the country. The city is located in a geographic basin with high mountains to the east -- the mountain of Mudeungsan has a peak elevation of 1,140 meters (3,740 feet) -- and more open plains to the west. The most notable feature in this astronaut photograph is an interesting blue cast to the...

Red dots (or outlines in the high-resolution imagery) indicate MODIS9 detection of thermal anomalies throughout the Philippines on March 29, 2002. In most cases, the anomaly is a fire, for example, all the locations marked on the northernmost island, Luzon. However, south of center, on the southern tip of Negros, the thermal anomaly is likely volcanic activity, and the red dot left of center of the main part of Mindanao (lower right) marks the location of a volcano called Mount Ragang. Sensor:...

Dozens of fires continue to burn in south-central Russia to the northwest of Lake Baikal, at the southern end of the Central Siberian Plateau. This image from the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) was acquired on May 12, 2002. In the high-resolution imagery, one can see the rectangular patterns of vegetation that suggest human cultivation of the land, as well as dark brown burn scars left by previous or ongoing fires. Sensor: Terra/MODIS. Data Start Date: 5/12/02.

Scattered fires near the Volga River in Russia were detected by MODIS on May 8, 2002. In the high-resolution imagery, it is apparent that the area is highly cultivate--the regular patterns in the vegetation--which suggests that these fires are agricultural and have been set to either clear new land for farming or grazing. Sensor: Terra/MODIS. Data Start Date: 5/8/02.

The development of a robust regolith moving system for lunar and planetary processing and construction is critical to the NASA mission to the Moon and Mars. Oxygen production may require up to 200 metric tons of regolith collection per year; outpost site development may require several times this amount. This paper describes progress in the small vehicle implement development and small excavation system development. Cratos was developed as a platform for the ISRU project to evaluate the...

The Advanced High Resolution Radiometer, Mod 2 (AVHRR/2) is a modification of the original AVHRR (AVHRR/1) to expand the number of channels from four to five and provide additional sensing in the infrared region. A comparison of the spectral regions employed in the two instruments is given. Three of the channels are the same on both instruments. The difference in instruments is in the long wave IR region where a single channel was replaced by two channels. The modification from AVHRR/1 to...

The color is composed of infrared, red, and blue-green color images, and has been enhanced to accentuate the color differences. The bright material may be rich in clays and date back to a time when Mars had a wetter environment. This is a sub-image of a larger view imaged by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter on Oct. 1, 2006. The resolution...

As the focus of Navy attention shifts to littoral regions, higher resolution and re-locatable nested models have been developed to improve shallow-water operations for ocean prediction. One of the scientific and technical challenges is to determine accuracy of ocean models on high-resolution grids needed to meet operational requirements for ocean prediction. A series of 14-day experiments are performed to evaluate the sensitivity of a regional ocean model to low-resolution Navy Ocean Global...

This true-color MODIS image from May 7, 2002, shows the Rio de la Plata Estuary in Argentina (lower right) filled with sediment. The source of the sediment isn't hard to see, as the Parana River, which cuts down the center of the image, also appears quite murky. On the southern side of the estuary, a grayish patch marks the location of the city of Buenos Aires. In the high-resolution imagery signs of cultivation are everywhere, with rectangular patterns mixed in the natural vegetation of the...
