The Transferable Output ASCII Data (TOAD) Gateway, release 1.0 is described. This is a software tool for converting tabular data from one format into another via the TOAD format. This initial release of the Gateway allows free data interchange among the following file formats: TOAD; Standard Interface File (SIF); Program to Optimize Simulated Trajectories (POST) input; Comma Separated Value (TSV); and a general free-form file format. As required, additional formats can be accommodated quickly...

Wind tunnel magnetic suspension and balance systems (MSBSs) have so far failed to find application at the large physical scales necessary for the majority of aerodynamic testing. Three areas of technology relevant to such application are investigated. Two variants of the Spanwise Magnet roll torque generation scheme are studied. Spanwise Permanent Magnets are shown to be practical and are experimentally demonstrated. Extensive computations of the performance of the Spanwise Iron Magnet scheme...

The application of pulsed power technology to advanced mission scenarios increasingly involves achieving higher peak power and energy while shrinking the deployment package. The inherent high energy density of explosives make them an obvious candidate for applications requiring extremely compact, single shot pulsed power drivers. However, explosive flux compression generators tend to be rather slow, low impedance, high current devices, while the loads of interest typically present a relatively...

Alternate or advanced energy conversion methods frequently require d-c to a-c conversion since the energy output must be synchronized with an existing utility grid. The objective of this paper is to describe various preliminary system concepts for interfacing advanced solid-state energy converters to the utility grid with a significant potential for reducing initial capital investment. Recent ERDA sponsored studies have identified the solid-state d-c to a-c inverter as a key element for further...
