Different Test Equipment (TE) required for the testing of serial communication based avionics systems for different aircrafts are usually supplied by the corresponding manufacturer. So procurement and maintenance of different TEs for the different avionics systems is not effective in terms of cost and operation. Additionally, the cost and time overheads that arise to carry out any changes in the Test equipment, with evolving hardware and software requirements of a particular avionics system...

Two alternate head-up display devices (HUD) were compared for properties relevant to the accurate performance of concurrent tasks in real flight conditions and in various flight modes. The comparisons were made to find the disorientation resistance of the HUDs along with the tracking accuracy, interference resistance, fixation resistance, and error resistance. The use of displacement and flight path information for vertical control is discussed in terms of flight stability. Several combinations...

THE DIFFERENTIAL SCATTERING OF FAST BEAMS OF NITROGEN MOLECULES ON VARIOUS TARGETS ARE INVESTIGATED. ANOMALOUS BEHAVIOR HAS BEEN NOTED FOR THE SCATTERING OF METASTABLE MOLECULES, WHICH IS CONNECTED WITH THE QUENCHING PROCESS. SCATTERING DATA HAVE BEEN USED TO DETERMINE ANISOTROPIC REACTION POTENTIAL PARAMETERS FOR THE SYSTEMS STUDIED, IN THE RANGE 0.1 - 50 EV. A QUENCHING SCHEME VIA DISSOCIATION OF THE EXCITED MOLECULE IS PROPOSED. A CALCULATION OF THE SCATTERING PATTERN HAS BEEN MADE IN THE...

Engine testing, ceramic component fabrication and evaluation, component performance rig testing, and analytical studies comprised AGT 100 activities during the 1985 year. Ten experimental assemblies (builds) were evaluated using two engines. Accrued operating time was 120 hr of burning and 170 hr total, bringing cumulative total operating time to 395 hr, all devoid of major failures. Tests identified the generator seals as the primary working fluid leakage sources. Power transfer clutch...

A study was performed to define full-scale propellant reorientation flow dynamics for the D-1T Centaur fuel tank. A computer code using the Simplified Marker and Cell technique was modified to include the capability for a variable grid mesh configuration. The use of smaller cells near the boundary, near baffles and in corners provides improved flow resolution. The new program, structured in overlay, is more efficient in core usage and is suitable for larger size problems. Three Lewis Research...

The application of a further developed analytical model and JAWS data to a piloted simulator is addressed. The Ames simulator provides a facility for the development of piloting procedures, and for the selection of training scenarios. The system is operational with the new wind shear models and comprehensive data output. The use of these models with the simulator is dicussed in detail.
