This article presents several alternatives to Pearson’s correlation coefficient and many examples. In the samples where the rank in a discrete variable counts more than the variable values, the mixture of Pearson’s and Spearman’s gives a better result.

Alectra vogelii (benth) is a parasitic weed which causes significant yield reductions in cowpeas (VignaunguiculataWalp) in most of the sub-Saharan African countries. The objective of this study was to establish the effect of Alectra vogelii infestation on yield components of cowpea and the prospects of utilizing these components for indirect select to A. vogelii in resistance breeding. Seven genotypes of cowpea were crossed in all possible combinations without reciprocals and their 21 F2...

This paper proposes a class of estimators for population correlation coefficient when information about the population mean and population variance of one of the variables is not avaliable but information about these parameters of another variable (auxiliary) is avaliable, in two phase sampling and analyzes its properties. Optimum estimator in the class is identified with its variance formula.

A graphical test bed in which the results of simulation experiment can be reported and analyzed is described. The test bed is based o the regression adjusted graphics and estimation methodology developed by Heidelberger and Lewis (Ref. 1) for regenerative simulation. From the graphics and associated numeric, the experimenter can summarize and see simultaneously relative properties, such as bias, normality and standard deviation, of several estimators of a characteristic of a population for up...

In this study, Breast Cancer in Al-Sader Medical City was introduced. Regression analysis is used to analyzed the data to get the mathematical model and the effect between all variables. In the results, there exist a positive relationship between Y (tumor levels) and X1 (education) in the years 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. But a negative relationship in the years 2006, 2007, and 2012.

The paper presents a comprehensive review carried out to identify the kinematic variables used in upper body rehabilitation assisted by robotic devices to assess the motor impairment of stroke patients and investigates the correlation between the kinematic variables and the clinical scales. Twenty-nine kinematic variables have been studied from twenty -eight articles involving 738 subacute or chronic stroke patients. The movement of speed, distance, accuracy, peak speed, peak speed ratio and...

A theoretical prediction to determine the frequency response of a cascaded remote pressure transducer system has been developed. This prediction was used to find a theoretical configuration which would produce a fairly flat frequency response (1.00 ± 0.05) over a 100 hertz range. Such a configuration would allow cross -correlation of an unsteady, random, low-speed flow field by simple analog methods. The theoretical prediction did not hold true for configurations of three serially connected...

Because radon gas is colorless and odorless, it is impossible for humans five senses to know whether one is exposed to it and as it is an inert gas that is nine times heavier than air it is prone to accumulation after being brought into the room through cracks in old buildings, connections and drains, thus creating indoor radon exposure problem. Although indoor radon concentration is related to indoor temperature and humidity, no research has been conducted to actually control indoor...

This paper addresses the problem of screening potential variables for entrance in a linear multiple regression setting. The purpose of the work presented here is to propose two screening methods, both of which have roots in principle component analysis, and which evaluate a combination of variables in an efficient enough manner so that enumeration of all combinations is feasible even when the number of potential variables is quite large. Using the square of the multiple correlation coefficient...

Engine have become one of the supportive asset for many activity and work, therefore engine need attention for its condition. The easiest way to do is through the acoustic sound of the engine itself. Most of the time, the engine sounds are checked using a traditional way that may causing a debate regarding its condition. This is due to no supportive scientific basis to know about engine condition using their own acoustic sound. A value from its frequency pattern is needed as scientific basis to...

This study was conducted to examine the Small Independent Action Force (SIAF) Model's vegetation classification scheme. The SIAF Model has as its basis an ordinal scale based upon density and type of vegetation. SIAF Class 6 was judged as most difficult with respect to intervisibility and SIAF Class 3 was judged more difficult than SIAF Class 4. An attempt was made...

In this paper, we propose another method to calculate the correlation coefficient of neutrosophic sets. The value which obtained from this method tells us the strength of relationship between the neutrosophic sets and the whether the neutrosophic sets are positively or negatively related. Finally we give some proposition and examples.
