This is an album with a typical sound, actually most of the tracks have a kind of 'watery' atmosphere, like the openingtrack "Whale." The album contains some danceable tracks like "Lost In Music" and "Rough Sneak," but also some tracks with a 'sci-fi sound' like "Pokerface" and "Starfish." With 'Microbe', the 11th album, of all his albums waverine probably comes closest to the electronic sound he likes to achieve producing music. The album is full of retro synth sounds and effects, often combined with piano melodies and packed into mid- to uptempo tracks with an unmistakable 80's twist. Vocal tracks can best be described as synthpop containing lyrics dealing with modern subjects like the digitisation of the retail business, (war) society, broken relationships and individualism....
